I would know no math whatsoever. I'd be asking for help like every 3 seconds... "I don't... *wink* get it. *licks lips*"

So how come every time you two are in a forum you always manage to get the discussion onto the subject of SEX!!!
I am beginning to think you two are sex maniacs, but I guess if you must be obsessed about something, sex is a good way to go since it fits in so well with the whole "Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll" religion of true music lovers!!! | GrayBeard |
So Becca, you email with these guys, right? So ask them WTF is up with someone wanting to quit a band on the way up to be a MATH TEACHER!!
That just sounds lame. How do you go from a life of sex, drugs and Rock & Roll to being a school teacher?
What happen, did he find Jesus or something?
No, that couldn't be it, cause Jesus used to run around with a bunch of strange guys and travel from town to town putting on shows, and that is a lot closer to being in a psychobilly band than being a school teacher!!!
So what happened? Did he fall off the stage and hit his head?
And how come the rest of the guys just don't keep the band together and keep going? Or was the guy who wants to be the teacher the lead singer and song writer for the band and without him there is no band???
This just sounds bogus somehow. | GrayBeard |
So Becca, did they say why the dude wanted to break up the band to be a *choke* math teacher? | GrayBeard |
I just can't picture a super rad psychobilly performer suddenly walking around a high school in a white shirt with a pencil protector in his pocket and a calculator strapped to his belt!! | GrayBeard |
the guys from 12SxRx explain it all on their message board here:
http://rebelrock.proboards1.com/index.cgi#ban d
just go to 12 Step Rebel News and then "12SxRx calls and 'indefinite break'"
i just read some of the threat that i havnt been keeping up on, and from what Nate is saying, things are looking up for the future of 12 Step...
by the way, my name is 'in my eyes' on that board if anyone is interested. | shadowbug26 |
Becca, I used ur link, set up an account and read the thread about 12 Step Rebels indefinitely breaking up.
STICK THIS BAND WITH A FORK - THEY ARE DONE!!!!
These guys are finished. Trust me. I have been there, done that. The way they are talking, no matter how positively they are try to spin it, they are finished with any kind of large scale professional music.
Yeah, maybe the Nate and the Jacob guy will do a little something on the side as a "hobby", but not much else.
Face it, who the hell would move to Pittsburgh or Philly to stay in music!?!?!? I know, I lived in Pittsburgh!! Moving there and expecting a music venture is like moving to Alaska and expecting a great tan!!
In my take of the messages posted there, only Chad is serious about music any longer. The other two dudes are basically giving up. You can tell in his posts that he was bushwacked by the whole breakup.
This same crap happened to my last professional band. One day all was well, the next day GONE!!! All the other guys gave it up, ironically for college (grad school) and careers, just like Nate and Jacob.
And there I was, just like Chad, standing there saying "WTF!!!"
Reading those posts about the breakup brought up such sucky memories I literally feel like barfing!!!
Maybe Chad has the balls to go on. He sounds like he does. IF so, I will be a fan for sure.
The other two, all I can say is they have NO IDEA how much they will regret this decision in twenty years!!! | GrayBeard |
or maybe they'll be thankful for this decision? i mean, maybe they really didnt want the rock star life?
as for chad, he can play the drums for my non existant band :-) | shadowbug26 |
It would be my guess that it's all about money with them. They are just tired of not having any and the "straight" life of a career and a steady, good paycheck sound oh so delicious to them right now.
Twenty years from now they will look back and see just how damn close they actually came to living their dream. Then they will compare it to what they have accomplished in their careers.
If they don't regret the breakup of 12 Step Rebels, then you are right Becca, they just were not cut out for making music.
But if it was their dream, and they gave up on it, no matter how successful they become in their straight careers, they will never come to grips with this decision.
Now, about Chad playing drums in your band. Why not? Why don't you ask him?
I know, you are thinking "What, is randy insane? Me ask Chad to get in a band together? That could never happen!"
Yes it could. Make your wish, blow out the candle, then eat the cake!!!
Make your own reality!!!
A great man once said "Ask and you will receive" | GrayBeard |
haha, one problem..i dont want a band. i have horrible stage fright :-( and the only instrument i play is the viola..and i hate it. so...yeah...
i dont think nate and jakob were just in it for the money...and even if they were, dont say that around me. it makes me sad :-( | shadowbug26 |
No Becca, Jakob & Nate did not do music for the money, they LEFT music for the money - the security of a steady, good paycheck.
I've seen it a bunch of times in my bands. It is just too tempting to take a good day job with a good steady paycheck rather than struggle and starve for music.
Especially if there is a family with children involved, as is the case with them. They are thinking about the responsibility of providing for a family I would imagine. You know, responsibility and all that.
No, I do NOT think they were into music for money. They were in music for music.
However, they most certainly left music for money. | GrayBeard |
Becca, EVERYONE wants a band, just most never do it. They talk themselves out of it.
Stage fright? I was a frontman for a rock band and I could not remember a SINGLE lyric!!! NADA!!
I could not memorize a single song until we started playing it - then the lines came to me one at a time!!! I was alway scared to death that one day the lines would not pop into my head and I would just be standing there not remembering what to sing while everyone was watching me!!!!
You would only have stage fright momentarily. Once you got going it would all be fine.
And the Viola is GREAT TRAINING, expecially if you wanted to be a psychobitch, say like Patricia Day, cause you could learn to play the upright bass in like two days since you know the fundamentals of a string instrument!!!
Just think of the Viola as a "little" upright bass!!!
Hey, and I hear Chad is looking for a singer and an upright bass player!!!!
Seriously Becca. You love music. Jump in. You will NEVER regret it. And you can do it with your tatoo career as well. | GrayBeard |
Here is what everyone needs to do: go download Allanis Morrisette's song "You Learn" from her "Jagged Little Pill" album and listen to it hard.
Don't hold back from anything. You live, you learn. Be afraid of nothing. There is no failure, just learning. | GrayBeard |
my stage fright is more like, i hate being the center of attention. i hate people all staring at me. i just dont get that rush out of it like some people do.
and the viola has different strings than a bass. so it is rather different..and a whole different cleff. and as i said, i HATE playing the viola. hate hate hate it. but ive got friends in my orchestra, and its an easy A...so yeah...
and i can respect jakob and nate leaving the band so they can give their kids a reliable source of money. | shadowbug26 |
Yeah I know about the viola & bass differences, I played violin. But the clef differences are nothing really, just imagine a shift of the lines, that's all.
Probably one day Jakob and Nate will be saying to their kids during some argument "I gave up being a rock star for you". And their kids will shoot back with something like "I didn't ask you to do that!".
But I guess it doesn't really matter what is up with them quiting the band. The bottom line is they quit.
Now I am thinking it is best to focus on Chad getting something going, and give him the fan support for his efforts. He is the one who is still at it and is therefore the most dedicated musician of the band. | GrayBeard |
Hey, how about this for a plan: You email with Chad, right? So eamail him and get a the info on his background and what's up with his new band and we can write up a bio and related artists and stuff like that and get him up on iSound!!
Then he can keep us postd with his band's progress, and get his fans over to iSound to check out his site, and then they will get interested in the other psychobilly stuff here and will help out the whole genre!!
What do you think? It would be fun helping him get a foothold here!! | GrayBeard |
Hello, u still read the 12 Step Rebels forum Becca? | GrayBeard |
um, yeah..i havnt emailed him in a while...but maybe | shadowbug26 |
Great, let us know what he says. He probably has some kind of short bio already he could email you, and you know the related bands, and he could give you a list of the guys in his new band if it is all together already.
And with that info he is on iSound!! What the heck, it can't hurt!! | GrayBeard |
