14corners were an alternative punk/rock/indie band from Glasgow, Scotland.
Shane Simmons and Stevie McEwan played guitar and sang, and in the bands time had two sets of rhythms sections, the first being Mark Anderon-Bass (now of Yuffie) and Davey Toohill-Drums (now of Glasgow starlets The Ronelles) and then Stuart Donald-Bass (now of The Ghosts) and John Gordon (now in Stewarton band Mummy Short Arms)
Guitarists/vocalists Shane Simmons and Stevie McEwan had played one shows with their original bass player Mark and drummer Davey up until the summer of 2004 when Davey joined The Ronelles and Mark left due to "musical differences".
Stuart Donald sjoined the band soon after, along with John Gordon a couple of months later which completed what would be the final line-up of the Corners towards the end of 2004. With the new line-up came the re-working of some of the band's better songs and the introduction of a few new tunes into the 14corners repertoire.
14corners played some very well recieved shows in and around Glasgow whilst writing and rehearsing but failed to gain a substantial fanbase due to lack of contacts and promotion. They recorded their one and only proper studio demo for the wider world to hear in March 2005 at Urban Studios.

There is now a band in the north of England calling themselves Fourteencorners. Please don't confuse them with us, they sound like Nizlopi. We also own both versions of the name, spelt as either words or with numbers as we were known as both during our time together...!
14corners enjoyed what they did... well that was up until the point where the band fell apart in October 2005.
Stevie and Shane went on to form The Four Fifty's within a month of 14corners being dissolved. Check them out on myspace http://www.myspace.com/thefourfiftys or http://www.thefourfiftys.co.uk
14corners had the chance to be a great indie-pop-rock band but it all went wrong... |
