I was born on December 29, 1984 and raised in Philadelphia in a small part called Germantown. Single mom raising 3 kids alone in the projects. Sometimes not even enough money to pay the rent. Going to a shelter because no family will give a helping hand. Seeing drug dealers make money as quick as they did, gave me no chose but to go that route as a young black male. As I grew up I took it upon myself to try to get money that fastest way I saw how. Standing at the corner hustling, seeing best friends to enemies being killed. The last straw was watching my closet friend being shot up right in front of me. Holding his head up high knowing he was gone for good. Hearing him, take that last breathe, me not wanting to leave the world with no accomplishments. My music journey had just begun.
While listening to diverse hip hop artists on the radio. Influences like that, caused me to write my own music. By putting my negatives into a positive, and putting it on wax. Giving myself rap name to something I want most and money and fame. My name is DotComm- (.Comm-), which means concentrating on making money. I started my first show case at the age of sixteen with one mic, two turntables, and a stage with enough room to show my talent. A few months later, started to record my first demo. Promoting my own music gave me the motivation to put myself out there. In 2001, I started networking at the age of 17 with different artists like Darryl Ray, Rough Nation Records, as well as Starbright Records. Performing in different club such as Clubflow, Club Champagne, and Club Egypt. Trying everyway possible in getting signed to a major label. Almost getting signed to IMG Records, but with the chose of dropping a close friend. Denying the deal was hard, but not wanting to betray those who were with me. Learning at the end, that I never had a friend and lost my dream with a stupid mistake. Keeping my head up and trying to never giving up on my dream, my passion and my determination. By the age of 18, I had been going to the Studio to finish a three song demo, so I can submit it local radio station. Q102 FM actually took the time to hear it and decided to play, “Been Threw”, on the radio for a whole week between 12pm and 6pm. Even though I was not a star yet, I was proud of myself. Life got harder as I grow older, feeling like I had less chances in making it big. In August of 2006, my 3 year relationship was gone, there was nothing left for me in Philadelphia, and I was 21. I headed towards New York with 75 dollars in my pocket and a book bag with one demo and two outfits. Sitting at Starbucks with 22 dollars left, giving it one last just. Suddenly hearing a conversation from a music promoter, gave me the guts to walk up and introduce myself. He listened and gave me a card to contact him back when he arrives back in NY. I told him, I come taking my chances and my chance is now. He became my manager, promoting my music showcases by booking shows at Atlanta (GA), Delaware, New York and also New Jersey. Few months later, I dropped him because he put other artists before me and say he would take credit for my publishing. So I headed back to Philadelphia.
Now, April 12, 2007, the age of 22. I am making copies of my demos at home and promoting my own music. Trying to make it big, but also keeping myself standing strong. This round giving it my all and reaching my dreams by being signed with a major record label.
