The first question that comes to mind when 1Enemy3 hits the stage is, “why six members…why three guitarists?”, then the answer hits you with a direct shot to your eardrums, a melodic wall of sound, not common in this day of three and four member hard rock acts. 1Enemy3 boasts that what you hear on their CD is exactly what you will hear live. 1Enemy3 doesn’t rely on ProTools magic to make their sound multi-layered and complex.
Although 1Enemy3 has been in existence since April of 2004, the completion of their line-up didn’t occur until Forrest Jackson joined in April of 2005, assuming the duties of bass guitar and backing vocals, fitting the band like a missing piece to a puzzle. The members bring to the table 100+ years of combined experience on guitar, which is apparent from the first measure of their set, from the low seven-string growl of Tory Endresen, the out-of-the-box rhythm progressions of Pat Murtagh, the old-school searing/melodic leads of Ed Philemonof, to the four-finger picking, full fret board, bass guitar assault of Forrest Jackson. Add to that, the long thought out vocal harmonizing of Jacques Hess and Forrest Jackson, and the driving, straight forward “punch to the chest” drumming of Eric Graham.
Each member began their music journey at a young age, listening to the strong hook, lead guitar style of the 80’s and 90’s. Jackson attended the Musician’s Institute of Bass Guitar (B.I.T.) starting in 1985. Each member has been in multiple bands, with Jackson having the most at 17 bands. The years of experience that they share, make it easy to see the undeniable chemistry the band shares each time they enter the practice room, or any stage. In the past, members have been selected as openers for acts the likes of Motley Crue, Megadeth, and Dio.
1Enemy3’s doors opened more when Al Gomes of Big Noise Providence (http://www.bignoisenow.com) proposed a one-year artist development contract at the end of January 2005. In the year that passed, Gomes was successful in getting 1Enemy3 accepted for nine entries on the 2006 Grammy Ballot:
Enemy - Record of the Year
1Enemy3 - Album of the Year
Don’t Let It In - Song of the Year
1Enemy3 - Best New Artist
Don’t Let It In, End Of Me, & Evergray - Best Hard Rock Performance
Enemy - Best Rock Song
1Enemy3 - Best Rock Album
Even though they were not selected as an Official Nomination, 1Enemy3 is honored to be compared to the impressive league of acts that proceeded to the next tier.
1Enemy3’s goal is to become a national level act, performing arena shows several times per week, bringing the excitement and visual spectacle of a true, hard rock show to the people that matter most, the fans.
