Back in the summer of 2001 a band was created by guitarist and song writer, Vince Smith. Everything started with writing a few songs out of a basement. However, over the next few months a line up was assembled including guitarist Peter Lee. After organizing a solid set of songs, 52metro hit the stage in March 2002. From that point the band played continuous shows around the area while accumulated a nationwide fan base using the many promotional tools of the internet. During this time there were a couple member changes reaching a final line up including drummer Colin Hansen and bassist Dan Lee. All in the meantime, 52metro was gaining attention and fans with the release and national self distribution of their first EP (Self Titled).
In 2004 the band released their second album “Self Hypnosis for Modern Day Living” which included fan favorites ‘Lockdown’ and ‘Fresh Air Breathes Fire’. Since then 52metro has been playing many shows nation wide.
With the upcoming release of their third album, “Tattoos and Broken Hearts”, 52metro is on a nationwide tear getting interest and exposure everywhere. The new EP features six songs with the bands best work to date. “Tattoos and Broken Hearts” will be released off of the indie label Turnpike Records with an undetermined release date sometime in early fall.
52metro’s sound is composed of a blend of guitars with catchy riffing, booming bass and driving beats. Solid vocals with luring harmonies are added to the sound by the three way front consisting of Vince Smith and brothers Pete and Dan Lee. The up tempo beat along with tight fills are provided by drummer Colin Hansen. This four piece band combined with creative song writing skills makes for a catchy and unique sound. On their way to the top with nonstop self promotion and the backing of many loyal fans around the country, these guys are on the road to furthering their success.
