Biography

The 69 Eyes is a dark band from Finland formed in the early 1990\'s. It\'s main symbol is the ankh and it has helped create the genre of \"Goth\'N\'Roll\". Its current members are; Timo-Timo and Bazie on guitar, Archzie on bass, Jussi69 on drums, and the lead vocalist Jyrki69. The singer Ville Valo of the band HIM, often does back up vocals for The 69 Eyes, and has helped to promote the band.

The 69 eyes originally had a very loud sound, somewhere between punk and horror flavored glam rock. They claimed to be influenced by bands such as Iggy and the Stooges and The Dead Boys. As time progressed though, their tone began to shift. By the time of their first international release in 1999, \'Wasting the Dawn The 69 Eye\'s had created their own unique sound, known as \"Goth\'n\'roll,\" by fusing Gothic melancholy and high-energy rock\'n\'roll into their works.

In Spring of 2000, The 69 Eyes released the single Gothic Girl which greatly changed the fortunes of the still obscure band. After months on the single\'s TOP 10 and the Finnish national radio\'s play lists, this single brought the band their first gold record.

After the success Wasting the Dawn and Gothic Girl, The 69 Eyes released the CD Blessed Be in September of 2000. The album rose straight to the number four spot on the Finnish Album Charts and its singles continued to jump straight into the top 10 in Finland earning them another gold record, and began to climb the charts in Germany as well.

The 69 eyes are not a whole lot like HIM, Ville Valo has done many backup vocals for the band and Jeraki, the lead singer also has a wonderfully droning voice, though not as natural as Valo's. The two bands have been friends from their underground beginnings in Finland. However, their sound has gone in very different directions. The 69 Eyes created the sound called "Goth N' Roll." (Both bands are pop bands by true gothic standards of course though.) The Eyes have more of a Punk/Goth feel than HIM, and are greatly influenced by the misfits. In my opinion have a lot more energy and excellent guitar/drum parts, though are lacking in the emotion and glam elements of HIM pieces. Yeah these two bands have a lot of corporate features. Still they both have their original styles. Is this band unpopular? Why such a small lot of messages?	amita
they're good, but not because they're like him. they may have some similarities, but i think the 69 eyes sound more like a cross between charon and paradise lost. they're all great bands anyway!	Krissn

ok 2 things 1.ur spelling his name wrong...it's Jyrki nor Jerkai 2.yes HIM and the 69 Eyes sound a bit alike but they have their differences also	HIM_666
