| The group A Filial is part of a new Brazilian popular music (MPB), contemporary, modern and free of style. They have given a reconfiguration to Brazilian music. Their work is driven by rap, but is one step ahead of the genre, assimilating broad influences and building a sonority rarely heard. The intention to increment hip hop with a refined instrumental base is an aesthetic which escapes the clichés. Edu Lopes, an old face on the carioca hip hop scene, and the band leader, decided to bring together his heterogeneous musical influences into this new project: from Antonio Carlos Jobim to A Tribe Called Quest, we can listen to the unification of a creative past and a progressive and inventive future. A Filial has discovered this link which allows it to bring together and please generations apparently so distant. |
