A Shameful Display is a one piece acoustic act out of Gainesville, FL. It has been hard for critics to establish a genre of music that would best categorize this surprisingly energetic artist. A Shameful Display appeals to listeners in the punk rock, pop, indie, emo, folk, and hardcore/post hardcore genres.
All hype aside, 21-year-old Brian Ware is the one person behind the stage name. Growing up in a heavily influenced punk rock atmosphere, Brian places all of his concentration on breaking free from standard acoustic artists, and places his main focus on entertaining a live crowd. A Shameful Display tours mostly with punk rock style bands, as to offer a nice contrast in a live set, yet not straying away from the style of music the punk rock fans expect to hear. He has also been known to play some all acoustic shows, and tries to increase the energy in the room by playing louder, standing, and basically just rocking out with his fans.
Brian has opened for acts such as: Yellowcard, Fallout Boy, Inspection 12, Lucky Boys Confusion, Count the Stars, The Starting Line, Mae, Punchline, and Less Than Jake.
Brian started out playing in local punk bands around Jacksonville, FL while in high school. That path did not amount to much of anything, so when he moved away to college, he dropped the bands, and just felt like writing songs in his free time.
The idea of adding a band to support A Shameful Display is a thought worth contemplating. However, the love of playing solo and having everything be so pure and heartfelt is overwhelming, and has been one of the greatest appeals for the fans.
Musical influences include: Lagwagon, Face to Face, No Use For A Name, Alkaline Trio, Yellowcard, Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional), Millencolin, Punchline.
