what is the point of your posting? i don't get it. you listen to god awful, no talent, i made this on my 808 in 10 minutes, life ain't nothin but bitches and money, rap music. why in god's name are you even looking up ABC? were you hoping to learn how to read? hooked on phonics has it's own web site, g-dawg. i mean, christ, you don't even listen to good hip -hop! in fact, you don't even listen to hip-hop! you listen to rap. you probably don't even know the difference, do you? i mean, you can say whatever you want, cause that's the point of this thing, but why waste yer time? you really haven't a clue about what yer talking about. ya fuckin stereotype. | zelig77 |
rap and hip-hop suck ass. ROCK and METAL rocks!!! it was rock music that started it all. | your_nightmare |
i think some hip-hop music is great, just not the shit this douche WESTSIDE listens too. yes, rock came before hip-hop, but rock was created when people started combining blues with country music. that's how we got rock and roll. everything came from something else. | zelig77 |
ABC? they are pretty cheesy, but their album "lexicon of love" is vintage 80s synth pop. i'd compare them to flock of seagulls, duran duran, and human league. as i said, they are totally 80s, but still alot of fun. | zelig77 |
| ewwww | your_nightmare |
yes, i agree. slipknot is a crappy band. ewwwwwwww. good point. | zelig77 |
shut your mouth slipknot isnt a crappy band. their one of the best metal bands in the world. | your_nightmare |
yeah, i feel kinda bad....i can't stand slipknot, but i shouldn't shit on someone for liking them, i suppose....on the other hand, sometimes i feel like the fact that so many people like these bands that are so unoriginal, and corporate produced, that it doesn't speak well of our culture. nobody cares about music being art anymore. hell, they don't even want music to be fun anymore! it has to be angst ridden, but without challenging you on any real level, and it has to be boastful, but without any kind of positive message to it. no thought goes into this music anymore, it's just button pushing, and panders to the base emotions, usually anger, and lust. that worries me, because popular culture effects the people more than they realize i think. our standards just keep dropping, and that bothers me. i just wish people would try a little harder to be open minded, and go out and try different music, different movies, and stop going with what the radio, and mtv force feed you. | zelig77 |
i can agree with that. my mom listened to stuff like marvin gaye, and earth, wind, and fire, and my dad listened to led zepplin. then i'd go to my cousins, and they'd be listening to the ramones, and blondie. so take that and mix it with jazz i'd hear on the cosby show, and the funky stuff they'd have on sesame street, and i guess that's why i like a little variety.....also, i wasn't allowed to watch mtv as a child, so that helped, i think. | zelig77 |
Okay, who in their right mind would waste an ABC message board; talking about something way off topic? And calling ABC "a cheesy 80ies band"?! Hello, do you even know anything about ABC? No. ABC has a lot more credibility
than some stupid Flock of Seagulls or
any of those talentless bands! Thank you very much... | AbcFryfan |
ABC was a great pop band, but to deny the fact that they were campy would be ridiculous, especially since they were obviously shooting for that anyway. i think it's a mistake to take them too seriously. their songs were about heartbreak, commercialism, love, and dancing. nothing new, but they happen to be very good at it, so that's why i love them. i think you are getting a little worked up over this whole thing...and flock of seagulls, and duran duran, and human league, along with abc, put out some of the best synth pop cds of the early 80s. they all played their roles... | zelig77 |
by the way, my favorite ABC song is "tears are not enough". | zelig77 |
i just get really sick of ppl bashing bands like ABC when they don't even have clue about them. I am just making a point, thats all. you do have a fave band too, am i not right? | abcfryfan |
i wasn't really bashing ABC at all. when i referred to them as a "cheesy 80s band" it was actually meant as a term of endearment, cause i like "cheesy 80s bands". maybe i should have another description for them, but lexicon of love is one of my favorite cds from the 80s, so i wasn't bashing them at all. and yes, my favorite bands are on my profile page, although i could name check a shitload more. | zelig77 |
oh, by the way, happy belated birthday! feel old yet? | zelig77 |
er, no i don't feel old. i am pretty young still! Guess i'll feel old when
i'm 50, or something... | abcfryfan |
yeah, i know i'm not old either, but sometimes i'll be watching college football or something, and realize i'm older than all the players. that's kinda depressing, but i'm not old yet! not sure why i got off on this tangent, but whatever..... | zelig77 |
