The Adicts; Pete Davison 'Pee Dee' on guitar, Mel 'Spider' Ellis on guitar, Kid Davison (Pete's younger brother)on drums, Tim Hocking on bass, and 'Monkey' Warren on vocals. One of the greatest british punk bands to ever exist, formed in 1977 as The Afterbirths, then, changed their name to Pinz (after having their first gig in a scout hut in Aldeburgn, Suffolk). After that, changed their name to The Addicts, though, that name was taken, so they decided to change the spelling of Addicts to one d instead of two d's(bringing them problems, for the press judged them of being illiterate). For the following two years, The Adicts did a few gigs, though, they weren't all that great due to the lack of venues in the areas. All up to August 18th 1979 in their first London gig at the Breakneck in Camden. Signing up with Dining Out label (who were at their first gig) and produced a 4-trak ep called "Lunchtime With The Adicts" in September of 1979. That 4-trak sold more than 10,000 copies and got them to number 2 in the independant charts. The Adicts later changed to DWED Records and recorded their next record "Songs of Praise" (16 track album). They didn't have enough money, so they financed with a bank loan, recorded and mixed it in under 24 hours. During this album, they made a new look, which was around at the time. They dressed with bowler hats, white clothes and black boots taken from Alex and his friends 'Clockwork Orange' (from the movie, "A Clockwork orange"). Monkey was going overboard looking totally awsome by going joker style look, white grease-painted face with black clownlike eye make up, a grin form ear to ear and a wardrobe full of bright raggy clothes. The Adicts said they were fed up with all the bands looking the same, punk. After this ablum, they made another album in 1982 named "Sound of Music" (featuring 12 songs). After this album, they took a break, and later in 1985, they made a great album named "Smart Alex". After Smart Alex, 5TH Overture was made in 1986. Later after 5th Overture was made, The Adict's seperated. Though, in 1991, reunited, and made an album named "27". Still today, The Adicts remain. Now, they will be releasing a new album named "Rollercoaster" which will come out in April 2004.

The show at Hollywood (which is like 20-30 minutes away from my house) is tomorrow. I was going to go, but the tickets are sold out. There's another show at Long Beach (which is super close to my house, like 10 minutes away) on Thursday, but it's also sold out. I'm so pist! Does anyone know where I can purchase tickets at the Long Beach one. I so want to go. There's still time, I hope.

is that how you spell that? | shadowbug26 | I really need to go to Middle Earth Records. The show is next Thursday! I just need a ride. My parents have been really busy and they can't take me this week. My brother might come this week from Vegas (I hope), so he might be able to take me. He better, hey, I haven't talked to him in a while. He loves The Adicts, I'm pretty sure he would love to go as well. I need to call him! | ILoveSidVicious | | | |
