afterEIGHT is a band poised on the edge of great things.
In their mere year and a half existence the band's emotive brand of rock and roll has brought them to the top of the thriving Tulsa music scene, along the way making the band one of the most sought after acts in the state and garnering rave reviews from industry personnel around the country.
"These guys are without a doubt the next big thing" says Tim Hudson, director of the celebrated Where-House concert venue in Bartlesville Oklahoma, "I am stunned by the loyalty of their fanbase. They completely dominated the Where-House new band tournament in 2004, it wasnt even close."
The band topped the more than three month battle, which included 29 of the regions best bands to secure themselves a slot at that years Cornerstone festival.
In addition to winning the competition the band made an impression on the industry judges including Bob Herdman of Flicker Records who commented, "great show, I've never seen a band throw their guitars like that to each other... really awesome."
Hudson also adds that afterEIGHTs professionalism is another plus. "If I tell these guys I need them at 6:00 they are there at 5:30. I'm really impressed by the band's tenacity to get things done." AfterEIGHT also grabbed up the prestigious Guts church battle of the bands scoring the $1,000 in the process.
afterEIGHTs frenetic performance was also enough to leave an impression on former Word Records A&R head Judith Hibbard saying "afterEIGHT was one of the best bands I saw all summer during the Christian Music Talent Search.
The band made a likewise impression on Kids in the Way singer Dave Pelsue. They have one of the best live show I've ever seen" he says.
Starting life as a punk rock band called twenty-4-seven, afterEIGHT played hundreds of shows building up a following with an infectious fun-loving attitude that fans loved. Deciding that it was time for a change the band added longtime friend Justin Lamproe on guitar. Justin brought a whole new style and dimension to the bands sound taking them well beyond the cliche 3-chord punk blueprint. A name change and the addition of singer Jacob Dement and guitarist Brett Admire brought the band to full strength. We got the name because we used to practice in this little diner called Lee's Diner Admire says and we couldn't have practice until after eight o'clock, it just stuck.
The bands 5 song demo recorded just a month later quickly became a favorite of fans and critics alike elevating them to one of Okahomas most sought after local artists.
