| Ai is at the forefront of the next generation of fresh young musicians. Fusing pulsing electro beats with drum & bass rhythms and alternative rock, the band has created an exciting repertoire of seductive and original songs. A.I.'s cornerstone is their animate ability to perform every sound live using a combination of vintage, acoustic and electronic instruments (without the use of sequencers or DATs) while putting on a captivating party experience. Based in West Los Angeles, Artificial Intelligence consists of Nick Young (vocals, guitars), Zack Young (acoustic and electronic drums, triggers) and Milen Kirov (synth bass, keyboards). In the past two years, the band has toured nationally and regionally alongside acts as diverse as The B-52’s, Money Mark and Particle. Partnering with DJ Brian Vasquez, A.I. has produced remixes of The Beastie Boys hit “Ch-Check It Out” (which became the number one most requested song on L.A.’s premier rock station 106.7 KROQ), while their remix of Godsmack’s “Serenity” climbed to the number 4 most requested mainstream rock song in the U.S. for 2003. Their 2002 self-titled debut album for DreamWorks was produced by former Nine Inch Nails drummer Chris Vrenna of Tweaker and executive produced by Robbie Robertson of The Band. Recently, A.I. has ventured into the world of film scoring by composing and sound designing Robert M. Young’s latest film Human Error, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004. The band is currently recording their sophomore release titled, Sex & Robots, which is slated for a spring 2005 release on their own independent AIMUSIC imprint. Singer/Guitarist Nick Young talks about the meaning behind the name Sex & Robots: “We live in a world guided by our desires and our technologies. If we can learn to use them together for the greater good, the world will be a much happier place. We like to think our music contributes to this belief.” |
