Alamantra is a group of music makers that usually revolve around a performing nucleus of: Bobby Shiflett: songwriter, arranger, vocals, guitar, keyboards etc. & Kenny Shiflett: drums, percussion.
This combo also often includes, has included or will include: Andrew Reid: bass, vocals; Steve Casteel: guitar, song collaborator; Lex Adwell: bass, vocals; Mike Hamilton: vocals, song collaborator; Jonas Grey (a.k.a. David Parker): vocals, song collaborator; Laura Whitney: vocals; Melinda Everitt: vocals, percussion, song collaborator; Danny Everitt: bass; Joel Smith: bass, vocals; Rhonda Ellis: bass; Ashley Hoefer: percussion, William Nailen: keyboards, vocals, song collaborator; Tim Bagley: drums; Shea Heatherly: drums; Guyton Sanders: drums; Chris Casteel: drums; Matt Slocum: piano; Jim Evans: Tuba etc. etc. etc.
The roots of Alamantra originate from the band, Every Little Flower (circa 1993). This association has appeared under sundry guises, including: Professor Marvel, On, Grand Orient and Poor Richard's Almanack before finally settling on Alamantra in 2000.
Alamantra's music doesn't fit neatly into a particular genre or category and it's charm isn't necessarily to be found in any broad commercial appeal. However, the chemistry is none-the-less as distinct and identifiable as it is moody, eccentric and enduring. It possesses a certain immediate, real life quality that has become somewhat of a rare commodity.
"You'll never get anywhere with your music because none of your material sounds just alike. You've got to write songs that all sound the same if you want to make it." Michael Panepento (local music industry bigshot) to Bobby Shiflett (music minion) circa 1989. |
