| I've got my discography that represents sixteen albums since 2004. That’s a lot of songs. I own them all, and Lusitone Records, admittedly my own independent "record company," presses and publishes them. I’ve been an ASCAP artist since 2006. My music is on CDbaby, Itunes, Rhapsody, Napster, Amazon, and a bunch of other internet music retailers. I have recorded at Orange Whip Studios in Santa Barbara. Some of those songs went onto my first albums in 2004, Boa Sina, a triple disc, and Mystery House. The songs for Rose Blood and Gypsy Songs, from 2005, were recorded and mastered at Kerr Hall at UC Santa Barbara. I said I needed the songs for my Portuguese class. That’s why there’s one song it Portuguese, and another about the Azores. They really are good albums. (Ask me to make my own mix for you). Everything else I’ve recorded on my own, informal style. That’s a good explanation, too, for where the strange attitude comes from, because I recorded not just in one place, but everywhere, in different environments, with an eclectic group of people, and in a diverse array of contexts, some less formal than others. I’ve recorded songs in a garage, in a bedroom, in a living room, in a timeshare, in a manufactured home, in a friend’s parents’ home while they were away in Italy, on a well-maintained, multi-million dollar backyard lawn, in a college painting studio, in an office, in concert, in the summer, fall, winter, and spring, in Pahrump, Alpine Village, Ridgecrest, San Diego, Goleta, and Santa Barbara. There’s probably more. Right now, I’m having my songs recorded in an old bank vault at the Avalon. I’m recording the guitar parts separately from the vocals. That’s new. Some of my favorite songs are “Coal Mine,” “Was Loving You a Mistake,” “Green Moon,” “People Need to Move,” “Love Is a Wheel (that turns, turns, turns),” “Maria Notebook,” “Rose Blood,” “Apple Tree,” “Old Wet Road,” “Well Wishing,” “Crimson Cow,” “Red River Valley,” “Peregrine Wine,” “Underground Railroad Station,” “Siren Blues,” and bunches of others. Alan Silva… keep an eye out for him. He’s going to make history some day. For a catalog of Alan Silva's works, simply send a self-addressed stamped envelope to: alansilvamusic@gmail.com |
