| Alchemy are a young, explosive all new British band that have mixed music of the utmost originality with styles such as pop, acoustic rock and funk to create an exciting sound for any avid music fan. Consisting of lead singer Nick Tree, guitarist Tom Mitchell, and drummer Simon Mitchell, they have just finished a brand new album.
The band are aged 19 - 22 years old and have a wealth of musical experience as well as an infectious passion for the music they play. Drawing upon musical influences from established, successful bands such as the Dave Matthews Band and Maroon 5 they have managed to blend musical genres to create a sound using the commercial capabilities of the acoustic guitar and unique catchy vocal melodies that are certain to reach the widest of audiences.
Based in Guildford, 'Alchemy' have been dedicated to touring venues around London such as 'Pop' in Soho; "…Funky tracks and tons of energy from these young heart throbs…" (Wild@pop), Brighton and Surrey and through doing so, have built up a mailing list of over 1000 fans committed to supporting the band at live shows and through their website. Recognising that their target audience is predominantly student based, they also recently completed a very successful college tour around Surrey, in conjunction with the NSPCC charity, only further increasing their popularity.
Tom and Nick are experienced guitarists who use an upbeat funky sound that relies a great deal on the interaction of their two guitar parts. Nick's vocals perfectly complement this sound with a voice that is emotional and yet very diverse. After the two had played many two-piece sets and received a lot of positive feedback from fans, they decided to introduce Simon Mitchell, an experienced and naturally gifted drummer, who was able to adapt quickly and contribute greatly in developing 'Alchemy's' music further. A number of session bass players have also been used for live shows and recording purposes.
Since graduating in September 2003, they are all now dedicated to thriving upon the encouragement of the universally positive feedback that they receive, drawing in many fans intrigued with the original upbeat acoustic sound so absent amongst other unsigned bands around them. Strong publicity from Newspapers, magazines and radio stations, all further emphasise the commercial capabilities of Surrey's new favourite band.
Since the band started Alchemy has made a concerted effort to keep control of everything that goes on within the band. As well as recording and producing their own CD's they design their own artwork and distribute them to their growing fan base. As the music becomes more widespread and the bands popularity grows, 'Alchemy' are quickly learning that soon it will become impossible to keep doing everything themselves and their rapidly expanding fan base will need to be satisfied on a more commercial scale.
