| Alfreda Gerald, 'Lead vocalist" with new age artist YANNI, has released a new CD that is classified as "Yanni meets Aretha Franklin!" Alfreda was singing before she could speak. Her 7th grade music teacher recognized her "mature" voice and suggested to her parents that she begin "formal" vocal training. After graduating from college, Alfreda won several positions in various opera houses and guest performed with different orchestras around the world. Although,singing opera was her life, Alfreda never forgot her gospel and r&b roots. After relocating to atlanta, alfreda met a few "influential" commercial jingle producers, who gave her a chance to sing on some ad campaigns. Before she knew it, she was on the "first call list", which put on the top! One day, she got a phone call saying that "Yanni was looking for a singer whose vocal stylings are a "mixture" of Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan, who had not been signed. Singing "opera" was also a plus!" So, she sent in a CD that included all the styles she could sing. Opera, jazz, r&b, and of course.. gospel. Yanni loved it and. . .the rest is history! |
