| On April 13th, 1987 a little girl was born by the name of Allison Amling Weiss. She grew up in a middle/upperclass suburban househould with her mother, father, and two brothers. Her dad, Doug Weiss, was a talented singer/songwriter musician himself, and began training Allison at an early age when he introduced her to a little red piano. She didn't begin playing the piano until much later.
When she was eight or so, her dad began teaching her chords on the piano. She developed a skill which allowed her to play by ear, since reading music is hard and boring and a waste of time. Not really. It's very nice. Kudos to you if you can do it.
When she was about 14 years old, Allison first really began playing the guitar in order to impress a boy in her Creative Writing class at school. She then saw the movie Josie and the Pussycats and decided that she would become a rock star.
In 11th grade, she was introduced to the band Dashboard Confessional by a pretty good looking classmate. She immediately fell in love with the band and it's frontman, Chris Carrabba. Newly inspired by this incredible music, she asked for an acoustic guitar for her birthday. Allison's style quickly changed for the better.
This style she developed, emotionally driven acoustic pop with a little modern punk influence, amazed her parents and also won her many fans who weren't related to her. She began writing more and more, building up her repitoire and self confidence.
Four years and countless heartbreaks and letdowns after her freshman year, Allison Weiss decided it was time to go solo. Since that faithful day in 9th grade, she has honed her skills on the guitar and bass, and is quickly picking up drums. She has played in several highschool bands (Kapala, No Offense, Accident in Progress, Forever Autumn...) but has discovered through all this that she is better off alone. |
