Continuing on from ‘Come From Heaven’ ‘Pepper’ and ‘The Impossible Thrill’, Alpha release their new album ‘Stargazing’.
The story began in the late 90’s in Bristol where bands such as ‘Massive Attack’, ‘Roni Size’, ‘Portishead’, ‘Tricky’ ,‘Smith and Mighty’ to name a few had albums out and Alpha released their debut album Come from Heaven. Corin and Andy had worked separately on many projects in and around Bristol releasing records through different labels like ‘Cup of Tea’, ‘Swarf Finger’ and ‘Secret Agent’ but it was through these projects that they began to collaborate more and realise that a new sound was forming, it was a sound that they were both looking for, a timeless quality, a sound that would be hard to place in any era. Now under the name ‘Ariel’ Corin and Andy took it upon them to search for voices to melt the hardest of hearts. Martin Barnard, Helen White and Wendy Stubbs all had an emotion in their singing not often heard these days.
‘Back’ a seven-inch single was the first release, this caught the attention of Massive Attack who were looking for acts to sign to their ‘Melankolic’ label and so led to the release of ‘Come from Heaven’ and a name change to ‘Alpha’.
Following on from the critical aclaimed albums ‘Come From Heaven’, ‘Pepper’ and ‘The Impossible Thrill’, Alpha emerge once more with ‘Stargazing’. |
