BOMBS OVER BAGHDAD created a whole new wave to Kuwaiti-born artist, AMIT. During his creatively formative adolescent years, Amit confidently paved his musical path, by receiving the B’s in nap time and the A’s in music class. Of Indian descent, Amit grew up in the front row of classical concerts starting with Ravi Shankar. At age 6, barely reaching the double-stacked organ, Amit performed his first compositions to the likes of 80’s Bollywood stars. The following year, a full 7 years old, Amit dropped it like it was hot in the desert scene, rocking percussion in his first band, The Sunshines.
Amit made a continental shift post Gulf War, living in San Francisco, Toronto, Mexico City, and the UK. On keys and vocals, he stormed a 6-piece band, DISHOOM, jamming weekly in a grunge city basement and gigging in California, before going solo. In conjunction to music making, Amit combined his visual artistry, forming the future-forward music/visual band, RAWKSHOW, with a long time partner in crime, playing platinum shows with custom-created electronic instruments and film projection.
In his current solo debut, Amit battles the funky beats, firing into synth, guitar, sitar, voice, and production, camouflaging pop with electronica and rock. From San Francisco, painting sonic pictures of his global transplants, blast-in-effect, shoots the A to the M to the I to the T. |
