| How do you package and sell a group like Ammi? The group has been in a state of constant but fluid change since its beginnings in 2001. Ever since singer Phil Vickers and guitarist Nate Gass embarked on this musical journey the goal has remained the same. The vision was to create a band that was multi-dimensional. Of course the music would be fresh. It had to be something new, but still familiar. It would be experimental yet still maintain some aspects of pop music while blending and blurring several genres. But beyond the music Ammi has strived toward an uncompromising integration of faith and art, where the two collide is something that can only be the work of God. Nate’s eclectic style of guitar playing combined with Kris Kuss’ tight percussion and Andy Wulf’s creative and appropriate bass paint the perfect landscape for Phil’s sometimes hopeful, but always honest lyrics. It’s not always easy to package, but it’s well worth listening to.
Ammi independently released their first EP titled The Hymnal EP in 2002 and released their latest EP Laodicea on Common Cloud Records in early 2005. The band is setting the plans in motion for a full length to come out soon.
