And This Army turned heads in 2006 with the self-release of the LP 'FOE' via careful songcraft, bludgeoning power and pristine sonics courtesy of producer D. James Goodwin, who shared these eloquent words in respect to the project: "These guys are fucking sick! This record is going to fuck some heads up. Recording was simple. Distort the piss out of everything and press record! This shit sounds huge and evil. I'm quite pleased.”
'FOE' garnered a wealth of underground critical praise and caught the discerning ear of Clint Conley, singer and bassist of Boston's legendary Mission of Burma, who was also kind enough to lend a few words to the up-and-comers, "... really good schmeary sonics -- very imaginative, and real songwriting to boot! All too rare."
And This Army has given hope to a local Brooklyn scene through their communal house parties, rambunctious taproom gatherings and inspiring sense of creative momentum. On an early 2007 tour of the US they connected with a wide variety of music fans who welcomed their hybrid sound with universal warmth and the occasional wild-eyed fanaticism. |
