Alternative pop songster Andy Davis returns this fall with his piano and soaring falsetto for his first full-band LP. Recorded in 10 days in Los Angeles with legendary producer Mitchell Froom (Sheryl Crow, Los Lobos, Elvis Costello, Crowded House, Randy Newman), "Let The Woman" is a collection of songs that separates Davis from the crowd.
Earning comparisons from Ben Folds to Paul Simon to Badly Drawn Boy, as well as the classic story-centered songwriting of Billy Joel, this Nashville-based 25-year-old embraces a range of times, influences and genres, his distinctive melodies and infectious layered vocals anchored by personal yet universal lyrics.
Andy has recently signed a deal with bigHelium records and Barnes & Noble, who will exclusively release and promote "Let The Woman" this fall in their more than 700 stores located throughout the United States.
Look for Andy Davis on tour through the summer and fall, and pick up a copy of "Let The Woman" -- on sale at Barnes & Noble Booksellers and at www.bn.com. The album also just released to iTunes on February 5th! |

| Thursday, August 28th, 2008 8/8/08- TOT tour recap... of sorts Friday, August 08, 2008
TOT tour.....a recap of sorts.
friends. Ten Out of Tenn tour has come to an end. 15 days in a row, 16 shows....12 people on a bus....
I wanted to make a youtube video from the TOT tour....there was definitely tons and tons of video-able things happening....but I didn't. Basically, to work on editing a video would mean that I'd have to miss out on the fun.....and since the fun was nonstop, there was no time for editing.
Fun such as:
-passing out glowing mouthpieces after the NYC show and having a makeshift rave in the front lounge of the bus, blasting any upbeat Dylan songs we could find.
-trying to insert the phrase "TOT" into any sentence. (For example: "My TOT feels funny today." or "Uh oh....Tyler got some TOT last night!!" or "GO TOT yourself!" None of which make any sense.)
-watching certain non-female TOT tour members get pedicures at a random Walmart
-bribing the owner of a duckpin bowling alley in Indianapolis to stay open late so we could have the place to ourselves (This might be one of the top 3 memories). Duckpin bowling is like bowling from the 20s or something with small pins and bowling balls just bigger than softballs. Kinda like we were in the first Back to the Future, only with beer from 2008, and no clock tower to save.
-ongoing late night billiards tournaments (i owe all success to my billiards partner, butterfly boucher, who may be the best pool shark I've ever seen.)
-late night installments of the BBC series "North and South" during what I like to call TOTea Time. This is where myself, Katie Herzig, Butterfly, and drummer Will Sayles liked to retreat to the back lounge of the tour bus to remind ourselves that we are high-brow, classy individuals, with a taste for the finer things in life.....stories of propriety, historical fiction....and unrequited love. (Granted, we couldn't understand their accents and had to watch it in subtitles....and also I fell asleep a lot.) (Side note, Griffin House also joined TOTea Time occasionally, once being lulled to sleep by the rocking of the bus, his head landing gently on my shoulder for the remainder of the evening. Erm, the memories.)
-playing slide guitar on K.S. Rhoads' "Bayonet". This was probably the highlight of the set list for me every night. That's why people probably saw me dancing like a thug rapper with sunglasses on during that song. I was feelin it.
There are tons of other memories that I'm sure will hit me later.....but these were definitely worth mentioning.
LUCKILY, the entire tour was filmed, from morning til night. Literally 8 hours of footage a day. Special thanks to Jeff Wilson, for carrying around that camera all day long and capturing every embarrassing thing we did during the tour. You will be the richest man in Nashville based on blackmail footage.
So yes, there will be some videos coming out here and there from the tour.....plus eventually a concert documentary, a la The Last Waltz.....or perhaps we'll just save the footage til we're all superstars, and then title the movie, "Before The Were Legends."
Oh, and next time you get a rash on your TOT, don't scratch it.

spring tour is over.....
Just wanted to drop a paragraph or 2 to say hello---
first of all, thank you to all the people who came out to the shows on this past tour---we played 30 shows in 35 days.....pretty grueling to be honest. but it was awesome to have people pumped to hear music all the way through---very awesome.
I'm pretty pumped to be back in Nashville for a while..... I love traveling and playing shows, but it's really hard to write new material when you're in hotel rooms every night and spending most of the day on the interstate....
Right now I'm actually watching teenage mutant ninja turtles 3.....when they go back in time to feudal japan.....nice surprise to see some good shows on TV for a change. maybe i'll put out a ninja record this summer...
ok more soon--just wanted to check in and say thanks for everyone coming out to the shows over the past couple months---goodbye friends

on tour....new video fun.....hello.
Current mood: adventurous
Category: Music
well, i admit this probably concludes my longest blog silence in my myspace history......thank you guys for being patient---
I'm currently out on tour with my friend Dave Barnes.....we're doing about 30 shows over the course of 35 days.....pretty jam packed. we're about 1/4 of the way into the tour at this point.....I'm sitting in a Hampton Inn Lobby at 2:20am......
I was planning on knocking out the rest of my taxes tonight, but decided to just do the extension thing.......I'm a procrastinator about certain things---taxes is definitely one of them. I welcome any and all emails from CPAs that want to help a brother out.
So let's see---what's new.......
I taught my iPhone how to play drums on one of my songs, so I've been trying that out at my shows.....adding a little techno element to the AD catalog I guess.....I named my phone Charles Douglas Davis, for the sake of having a name......"Give it up for Charlie!" sounds better than "Give it up for phone!"
Also, I built this awesome box/stand for my keyboard to make it look like an actual upright piano when I play shows. Unfortunately, Dave's band voted it out of our trailer, since it was so large and awkward to pack. So when they swung through nashville last week, they dropped it off. So if you saw it on the road on the first few shows of the tour, please tell everyone else how awesome it was.
This past week was my birthday. Yes, I have a week-long birthday---my mother was in labor for an entire week, so I celebrate all week long.
That's not actually true---however, I did weigh 10lbs10.5ounces when I was born. Yikes. when I bowl I usually use the 10pounder, and I can't imagine having that thing inside me.
Weird. Ok, sorry bout that rant
But.......for my bday I got to fulfill a lifelong dream---I went to the Masters!! It was only for the practice round and part 3 tournament, but still, I got to sit right behind Tiger Woods on the practice range, and got to be a few feet away from Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, and Jack Nicklaus as they teed off.....listening over their shoulder as they talked about what they had for dinner last night....about their new grandkids....pretty amazing. I don't really get starstruck with most celebs, but with pro golfers I'm a little bit fluttery inside......
Actually, side note on the Masters.....I played a show in New Orleans on Tuesday night, immediately got into a rental car and drove 10hours through the night to be in Augusta at 8am, ready to walk around the course for 8 hours in the hot sun. Let's just say I slept well that night.
Another side note: when I arrived at Augusta, I had about 30minutes to spare, so I tried to lay back in the driver's seat and take a quick nap. Unfortunately, I kept dreaming that I was falling asleep at the wheel, and would wake up with an intense adrenaline rush grabbing the steering wheel and hitting the brakes. Not a fun feeling.
Well, I'll be checking in more often now---it's good to see a lot of you guys at shows thus far---check the sched and come on out if we're headed near ya---
I'll leave you with a little video from the road. We try to eat really healthy on the road....as much as we can.....but sometimes there are side effects.

back from the dead and the rockboat
Current mood: uuaaaaghhhhhhhh
yall thought i was dead
ok so lots to talk about!!
1. FIRST OF ALL----TODAY "LET THE WOMAN" IS AVAILABLE ON ITUNES!! So yeah. I'm happy about that.
2. ROCKBOAT
the rockboat. yep, it happened. since i can't give every detail, here are a few highlights and setbacks that stuck out to me:
GOOD MEMORIES:
-ice cream cones galore
-waking up at 2pm to eat breakfast, i.e., ice cream cones
-ordering 2 entrees at dinner most nights, plus this "warm chocolate melting cake" thing (so good it makes each of your individual teeth moan and wail for more bites)
-meeting a bunch of new friends, and getting to instantly see people at their craziest....which can be good or bad
-hosting Bingo, with an ice cream cone in my hand
-watching nathan angelo go down the waterslide 7 times in a row, sprinting and cheering between each lap
-on the last morning, watching Miami approach in the distance as the sun came up
BAD MEMORIES:
-seasickness
-on Jamaica day, i forgot to wake up and only had 30 minutes to experience Jamaica, and did so from the back of a cab with a drug-pushing cab driver. in the rain. actually that was kinda fun
-the feeling you get at 4am when you try to eat 3 pieces of pizza from the midnight buffet, thinking it will make you "just right" and ready for bed....but doesn't.
-losing my digital camera. yeah. serious bummer. I actually know where I left it--I think one of the off-duty boat dancers made off with it from inside this piano bar area....BOOOOOO. actually they didn't take it. i just forgot it there. bums magee.
All in all, it was a fun trip---got to know a few artists that i'd only known through myspace and was super impressed----keaton simons, sons of william, alternate routes, brett dennen, kyle riabko.......got to hang with old friends and was still impressed by them---marc broussard guys, jon mclaughlin and gang, aslyn, david ryan harris....
So all was fun. hope to be on there again next year, ice cream in hand.
________
3. NORTHEAST TOUR
After the rockboat (literally the morning it ended), I flew my dehydrated, sleep-deprived self from the 80degree weather of Miami to the 20degree weather of NYC to begin a short run of shows throughout the northeast. I have no idea how I stayed healthy through that climate change---gallons of water, mixed with Airborne and preventative flu medicine, along with as much "healthy" food as I could find.
3a--the Living Room show in NYC was awesome--packed house----i wore my new gloves that are kinda like little gray 80s sweatpants for your hands with the fingers cut out---
3b--Paradise Lounge in Boston was awesome; I have to give a special shout out to the girl/woman who was dancing all by herself right in front of the stage (while the rest of the crowd sat listening)---I appreciate your boldness and bravery, and am curious where you learned some of those moves. (you people who were there know what i'm talking about. hey, i'm not hatin'---just sayin'---wow)
3c--RamsHead in Annapolis---I opened this show for these guys Lowen and Navarro---they're this legendary songwriting team that had some super big hits back in the 80s and 90s. They were seriously some of the warmest, most welcoming people i've ever done a show with. They asked me to come out and sing with them at the end of their set on their "claim to fame" song, "We Belong Together" (made famous by Pat Benatar). I was honored, but, embarrassingly didn't know all the lyrics----So I made some panicky phone calls, and downloaded the song from iTunes to make sure I knew it-------THEN, they end up singing half the song in Spanish. haha. Oh well, I was faking it as hard as I could......but it was awesome. The words that I knew, I sang with all my heart. Seriously, though, they were quality individuals---much respect to them
3d--Pittsburgh at the Club Cafe: fun show---good times exploring the local bar and late night gyro selections of the Steel city.....wanted to go to the andy warhol museum the next morning, but needed beauty rest even more.
________
4. Back home for a week----
So it feels pretty great to be sitting in my living room right now after a long few weeks away from home, with a violently changing set of surroundings. I'm pretty bad about procrastinating sometimes, and I'm doing my best to avoid tackling the pile of papers and emails that I returned to a couple days ago......the word "taxes" seriously makes me want to do ANYTHING except for taxes. i found myself researching herbal digestive cleanse programs, searching for video examples of all 40 snare drum rudiments online.... i even physically sawed apart an old organ to try and build something with its frame. i go to great lengths to avoid certain responsibilities, as you can see.
But I'm going to get on it tomorrow.
Well, I leave you folks with a video

starbucks cookie tossing
(i typed this whole long blog last night and my computer died, so i'm trying to remember all the brilliant things i said--i may forget some)
so first of all, if anyone was at the Green Hills Starbucks yesterday and saw a guy in workout clothes doubled over in the parking lot....in the rain....trying not to puke......that was me. and i apologize.
what happened was....i woke up and ate some oatmeal, then made some coffee. which i don't really do that much---because i don't drink a ton of caffeine, when i have it, i go kinda crazy. I've mentioned this before---the first 2-4 hours of the coffee leave me in a lazer sharp, fire-juggling focused stupor....typing 200 words a minute while folding laundry with my toes.
this is unfortunately followed by a 2-4 hour period of......the shakes. junky style. i start kinda mumbling half sentences and feel like a jr high kid walking down the hallways of a brand new school full of bullies....like a sheep getting ready for a shearing.....whatever that means
so yesterday i had 2 big cups of coffee after breakfast. then no lunch. then played 4 games of racquetball (the coffee buzz actually helped there--my reflexes were like neo in the matrix at times, leading to an outright pummeling of my opponent. sorry chadly). then, i went upstairs at the gym to pump some iron since i kinda splurged this past weekend and ate a lot of cake and m&m's (hi reps, low weight, you know.....going for tone, not for stallone)
so after that madness of a day, i started feeling kinda funny inside, and decided to drive to smoothie king to get a "post workout" shake. in line at smoothie king, though, all the color drained from my face, i grabbed my stomach and ran outside to barf, in the rain, in front of starbucks. however, there was no food in my stomach---BOOO. so i'm sitting there on the curb like a homeless man, in a doo-rag and sweatpants.....while yuppies and business folks are walking by like, "eww, gross.....don't give him any money" (in their heads of course)......
so finally the nausea passed enough for me to walk back into smoothie king and get a tasty treat.
fun times
ok so fun things are happening---just got back from dallas where we did this music video...in fact, i think you can find it on bn.com at the moment, although they'll be officially releasing it soon. also the 5 sales thing at Barnes and Noble is really exciting---also i got a GPS for christmas that i've been using to make sure that all my "around-town" trips are as efficient as possible, so that's exciting as well. (sometimes you get into habits around town and may not be taking the shortest route...you never know)
also, i'm digging the videos people are posting for the iPod contest---it's good to see you guys' creativity at work! there's still time to put a video together, so go for it! i'm pumped to give out the "most creative" award---which could win by being the most random, or the most hilarious.....or the most tear-jerking.....
and......that's all for now.

| Tuesday, January 1st, 2008 christmas day and after well, there went christmas
felt kinda quick this year for some reason.....maybe it was just me. i'm not sure what the reason was---it was great spending time with family, exchanging a few gifts and all.....
but for some reason it kinda felt more like "mini-christmas"....
it's hard to judge how significant a thing is until you've had time to process it and move on past it.....but for some reason this year didn't seem to feel "slow motion" enough to be significant....
who knows. it did feel christmasy when i watched Elf and Home Alone. However, most of my TV watching over the holiday was spent on the Discovery Channel. I couldn't peel my eyes away from this program about deep deep sea life (the kinda stuff that glows biolescently or whatever they say.....unreal...), and also this program about these 2 tame tigers that get put out into the wild to see if their instincts will kick in---and they did---these huge cats that had been fed like dogs all their lives made a few kills (small stuff at first--porcupine, baby deer or something---then something clicked inside them and they slaughtered a whole flock of antelopes--reminded me of that old disney cartoon Lambert the Sheepish Lion)
anyway.....
all to say, Christmas was great. but i wish it would've slowed down a tad more.

Ok so the official CONTEST page is up on my new youtube account (youtube.com/andydavis) under groups. Today is the first day you can join the Group and post your videos, so have at it!! I've seen a few videos, and let me say, I'm proud to discover that people who listen to my music are chock full of creative juices. Creative fruit juices in some cases, and probably high in antioxidants. But seriously I've been really impressed by a few of the videos that I've seen---keep em coming.
There's still plenty of time to get a bunch of people to view your video, so have at it people.
Here's the link to the OFFICIAL CONTEST GROUP :
http://www.youtube.com/profile_groups?user=andydavis
ps. I'll be uploading my new videos from now on at youtube.com/andydavis, so if you're a friend/subscriber at the youtube.com/jarvisweaver account, the party is moving. So don't get left---

Well, I'm going to go play with my new toys that Santa brought me--drive my hot lamborghini-
ps. I had this great idea for a video that I was going to post---I was at the mall and I saw this white Lamborghini, like straight out of Dumb and Dumber, but white---I was going to video myself in front of it, coffee in hand, talking about how I had gotten it for Christmas and all......but as i walked over there and got my camera out, the owner walked up and gave me a strange look. So....I made a forrest gump wave and ran away. I should've dumped my coffee on his hood just to see what would happen. It would've made a great video)
pss. i may or may not be coming into dallas jan 2-5 to work on a music video. if there's anything really exciting going on that I should know about, or if you forgot to mail my Christmas present and you want to drop it off, please let me know (andy@andydavisonline.com)

| Tuesday, January 1st, 2008 christmas dance party hristmas is a week away....wow---craziness
i went to the gym today, mainly because i decided to fight against the temptation to act like a kodiak bear getting ready for hibernation and storing up a bunch of reserves in my haunches (wherever those are).....casseroles and apple cobbler make great haunches (whatever those are)
the only problem with going to the gym, for me at least, is that since my gym visits are pretty sporatic (i.e. few and far between) i try to do every workout in the entire gym with as much weight and as many reps as i can possibly handle, to make up for all the time i haven't worked out.....and to prepare for the likely chance that it'll be a while before i work out again.....
the only problem with that habit is that it leaves me in an utter jello state for the next 3 days.
the good thing about the jello state of my muscles is that i kinda like the feeling----i imagine it's what Neo felt like in the Matrix after they let him out of that egg sac thing, using his muscles for the first time. so i kinda like the feeling. kinda.
IPOD VIDEO CONTEST:
...so some people i talked to asked for a little creative guidance on videos for this Official iPod Video Contest thing (for details, go to andydavisonline.com and read the news entry).
anyway, for you guys that might need a little jumpstart, here are some ideas i came up with. obviously, you don't have to use these, but they may spark some ideas.
Personally, I would love to see videos that feature:
-live chickens
-a cute girl eating something nasty and smiling
-sumo wrestling--fake or real--with or without mud
-a choreographed dance video for Beautiful Day For Bad News featuring only puppets
-a live piercing, or tattoo of my name on your body
-6 puppies pulling a sleigh full of my cds
-a person painting their face like the ultimate warrior while Our Love Is Not Their Business plays in the background
-a business meeting between a group of toddlers in business suits, discussing my career
ps. a video containing all of these things would definitely be in the lead for the Most Creative Award, which receives an iPod shuffle i think....i'll have to check the rules
pss. what would an iPod Shuggle do?
psss. if the song titles i've mentioned above sound vaguely familiar, you must not have my new cd. go to barnes and noble and buy like 16 of them to give away for christmas presents. then i won't be mad at you anymore.
SO....hope these get you started if you're stumped for an idea. again, you win the iPods by having the most views on your Youtube page, not just by being sweet or pretty.
CHRISTMAS DANCE PARTY:
this past weekend i went to a christmas party, and some dancing broke out. unfortunately, it wasn't good dancing, so my friend jeremy cowart and I decided to show people the real deal.
we couldn't remember the real deal at that moment, though, so we decided to come up with the most random, dumb dances we could think of.

steeeeeviee!! wonder.
Category: Music
so once again i missed tuesday. i think my calendar actually didn't have tuesday on it this week....not sure if that was a typo, but i went straight to wednesday. and....today happened to be wednesday as well
ok so a couple days ago, i had to rearrange my list of top life experiences.....i finally got to see stevie wonder in concert. and it was amazing.
seriously, he's one of my heroes, and has been for a long time....i tend to get hooked on an artist and then find everything they've ever recorded....all the deep album cuts that never get to radio.....random b-sides that were never released....I like trying to see them as a whole, rather than settling for the picture that their "hits" portray of them.....try to find the little mistakes or bits of humanity that can only be found by digging deep into their catalog.....not to the point that you don't like them anymore, or become less impressed, but for the purpose of reminding you that they are indeed humans, and aren't always as "on" as one hit recording might suggest. However, knowing that they recording the "on" recordings the same way they recorded the "off" ones makes the great performances that much more exciting for some reason....at least for me.
I guess for stevie (and any recording artist from back in the day), technology wasn't advanced enough to fix tiny details of recordings, so what you hear is, for the most part, what was played in person. I think that's maybe why i listen to way more old recordings than new---and maybe why on my recordings i try and make it obvious that I'm playing and singing everything honestly, rather than "fixing" stuff digitally....even if it means leaving slight imperfections (but who am i kidding, i never make mistakes, right? please do not disagree with this statement)
So anyway, the concert. stevie, in spite of being like 50 or 60 years old, sang all the songs in the original keys, full voice....KILLED IT. I wasn't sure what to expect, and kinda talked myself down to expect a less spirited version of a few old hit songs.....but seriously, on the first song, after kinda toying with the audience a little bit, he leaned back and belted this super high note as pure and strong as ever.....i got kinda emotional.....(not like the little girls who you see on the front row of michael jackson live concerts....i promise)
but really, i was truly floored---he still has it---the voice, the keyboards, the harmonica....he may be older (his daughter, who looked about 25 or 30 was singing background vocals), and he may be a little slower on his head-gyrations, but it was the real thing.
actually i kinda did a nerd thing and wrote down the set list on a series of 5 napkins so i could retell the concert to friends when i got home.
most bad-A moment of the evening: stevie, after milking the ending of "Living For The City" starts doing a "breath solo". not beat-boxing, not sound effects....just a solo of inhaling and exhaling.....unreal. i really wish i had thought of that and done it at my shows. i tried it after the concert and almost passed out, though.
also, random side note, mike tyson was at the concert and got up on stage at stevie's request....didn't sing or anything, although that would've been seriously entertaining.
i'll upload a couple videos in the next day or so.....including video of me singing like a crazie to stevie

| Thursday, November 1st, 2007 10/31/07--- sketches... and another tuesday on wednesday blog
today i'm excited.
for a few reasons.
1. i bought a harmonica. a chromatic one
like stevie wonder plays. i really want to learn how to play it.
not sure if i'll use it on my records, but i just need to know, out
of respect for stevie, how to play it. i was trying it out in
traffic today at a stoplight. got a funny look from the girl beside
me. i was also wearing sunglasses and shaking my head back and
forth.
2. i found this tourvan on craigslist that i hope i
can buy....it's kinda expensive, and i don't really have the money to
buy a conversion van at the moment, but it is PIMP. i might start
sleeping in that van if i buy it. it's way cooler than my bedroom.
we'll see. don't get my hopes up.
3. Most excitingly, I
got a call from my buddy Tim in Omaha, NB today--he said that he was
meandering through the Omaha Barnes and Noble and started chatting
with the guy at the music counter. Low and behold, on the counter,
an advance copy of Let The Woman. He had been listening to it (never
heard it before), digging on it, and was about to put it in the
store's overhead CD player. That made my day.
So huge props to
that music counter guy in the Omaha B&N!! I love you and I don't
even know you.
That gives me an idea---make friends with the B&N
music counter people---if they are supporters and play my cd in the
stores for all to hear, give them a hug or something. In fact, take
a picture with them, send us a link, and we'll put it up in these
blogs. Those guys have the power to pick the music in the stores,
and with a little lovin from you guys, they can jump on the bandwagon
and help out a ton---littl bit of in-store recruiting!! (PLAN IN
REVIEW: 1. Make friends with them. 2. Get em to listen to Let The
Woman. 3. Encourage them to play it in the store as much as they
can stand!! 4. If they agree, take your picture with them (with
their permission) and get their name (plus nickname if they like).
5. Upload it to a site like photobucket and send a link to my
myspace messages. 6. Check in and see yourself)
Ok,
that was a lot of instruction, but i think it could be fun. At very
least, ask them if they've listened to the record when you're
checking out and buying it.
Ok so this video is
kinda special---I included snippets of tracks from the new
album.....including some brand new, unheard tracks.....AND.....i made
drawings to go with them. sort of. hope you like
it.
REMEMBER---THE CD COMES OUT NEXT TUESDAY!!!! ONLY AT
BARNES AND NOBLE (and www.bn.com)
sorry for yelling. i love you guys.

| Thursday, November 1st, 2007 10/23/07--- weird so i'm in los angeles at the moment.....filming some commercials for the barnes and the noble......
i actually flew in last night into burbank right above the brush fires on the mountains....pretty crazy...especially when you realize how far up you are, and how big the fires look even from that height....pretty crazy. it's also kinda crazy to me that the fires were burning in the same pattern that a front yard would burn if you set the grass on fire.....kinda like little walls of flames going outward in all directions, slowly crawling outwards in a circle....crazy
even today the sky is kinda orange/brown....pretty weird
so in spite of that......today was actually an exciting day, because.....i got the first copies of Let The Woman in hand....pretty exciting! feels good to hold the final product of a long time of work in your hands....
so i realized last night that i needed a video for today, and didn't have one.....so...what do you do when you need to be creative on the spot? find a funny hat and some glasses, then walk backwards around the house and make up random words to a song. Then put the video in your computer, decide that the song was a little too random and spooky, and then replace the sound with one of the new radiohead songs.....then cut it up a little bit and make it slow motion to make it even more spooky and weird.....then realize at the end that you've created some kind of disturbing music video that doesn't really go anywhere, and only is for the creepy factor....and then think to yourself, "maybe i shouldn't upload this".....
then decide to go ahead and upload it.....i got an idea for a future video thing from it, so it wasn't worthless.....you gotta just follow the creative impulse in those situations, even if it leads you to some place that's going to make you look like a weirdo....there might be something to glean from it all
hopefully

| Thursday, November 1st, 2007 10/16/07--- fake spanish i'm impressed with people who can fake spanish really well....i think it's a gift. a very useful one. not for communicating with spanish speakers, i guess, but for impressing nonspanish speakers. I wish i could speak spanish fluently. if i could fluently fake spanish, that would be cool as well
this whole conversation is probably ridiculous to people who speak spanish as their native language....who obviously know english as well (if you're reading this, you understand english), and probably 3 other languages....all of a sudden i'm feeling kinda like a dummy american who only speaks english and thinks it's funny to fake other languages.....that's pretty much all i've said in this blog so far isn't it......hmmmm maybe i should've taken a different approach to the video
all this "Let the Woman" madness is fun.....glad you guys are digging on it...my mom says it's one of my best songs thus far, so you have to trust that opinion. mama don't lie
i had a long trip to starkville, MS this past week.....i stopped at a gas station somewhere in Mississippi and bought 2 cassette tapes---beach boys hits and the drifters hits......brought me back to childhood...i think i actually had that actual Drifters tape.....
i forgot about how on side 2 of cassette tapes, sometimes the songs don't make it all the way to the end of the tape, so you have like 5 minutes of blank hiss before it turns back over to the other side again.....weird. i wonder how that made people make decisions on sequencing albums back then.....imagine if you had to listen to 30 minutes of blank noise at the end of a cd.....maybe it's good, b/c it let's the music kinda drain out of your head, so that when it comes back on, you're ready to hear it again.....a breather before you go to round 2....
ok it's r |
