Angie, born July 4, 1990 in Arkansas, at a young age developed a unique talent for music. By the age of nine, Angie knew she wanted to be in the entertainment business and she wanted to as soon as possible. Growing up in home were music was and still is always blaring from speakers, Angie was able to experience different genres of music such as...Pop, Rock, Jazz, Blues, R&b, Soul, and here and their a little Country. But by the time she was 10, Rap/ HipHop was the big thing in her neighborhood. Never really paying attention to it before, Angie was literally amazed by the sound and feel of the music. "Soon I was writing lyrics to the songs on my older sisters cd’s and rapping my on lyrics as the song played," says Angie. From then own she knew hip hop music is what she wanted to do. People around Angie soon figured out this was really what she wanted to do because when other children were asked what do they want to be when they grow their answer was the typical DOCTOR, LAWYER, FIRE-FIGHTER, OR POLICEMAN (WOMEN). But now Angie....hers has always ,and still is, a rap/hiphop artist.
The first big obstacle in pursuing her dream was simply how to get started. Being so young it was hard to get people to listen to her, even her on family. Angie knew she had to take matters in her own hands. By that time the computer was the thing to have and a door to the outside world. Angie took advantage of this, and used it as her first step toward her music career. By the age of 12 (2002) Angie learned how to fully operate a computer. "I started with a free recording program and I used other mainstream artist beats instead of originals," says Angie. Soon after I started signing up with online music communities to get reactions and opinions from fellow artist. At first people were like its ok...then it went from ok to good from good to very talented. People were not only amazed at her music, but also that she was a 13 year old and rapping at such a high level.
Not long after, Angie’s music caught the ear of Hampton Entertainment C.E.O. Ray Los. Immediately he wanted to sign Angie to his label Ocean Front Records and True Sound Management. Eagerly, Angie later regretfully signed. After signing up things seemed to be looking up and moving fast, but gradually things went bad and the deal fell off. Not to be discouraged, Angie kept her head held high and started over.
Now for this 14 year old Female MC things are starting to look up again. She has made a few good connections, but is still looking for the next offer. |
