Founded in late 2003 by the musical duo of bassist Fynx and singer/guitarist B-Laz, Angskt started out as an intercollegiate chess team. After discovering the music of Tony Orlando, in early 2004, the group developed into one of the most innovative and energetic bands in the world today -- although their chess game has declined substantially. Angkst soon single-handedly ran the Eastern MA rap/metal scene -- ran it into the ground. The group, currently composed of serial rap-ist Bill, guitarist Blingery, drummer J'Duff, and The Keyboardist in addition to Fynx and B-Laz, recently released their first album. Their self-produced and promoted debut, Katholikon, features twelve explosive tracks, and one that isn’t very good (can you find which one?). Combining lush synth sounds with bone-crushing guitar work, not to mention dope beats, Katholikon paves the way for the future of alt-rap-awesome-metal.
Fynx and B-Laz have played a significant role in the underground music scene f or the past three years. Travis-T, of the fabled band Kommissar, said Fynx and B-Laz have done for underground music what Michael Jordan did for underground music. Originally a black metal band titled Inceptikon, B-Laz decided to take a new artistic direction with the inclusion of drummer J’Duff, and the band became the entity known as Angkst. With J'Duff's help, Angkst was able to find ace guitarist, Blingery. But they knew something was missing. Employing the help of The Keyboardist, they found Bill, a hardened inner-city hopeful from Detroit, who also happened to be black. Able to channel his internal frustration into rhythmically intricate raps, Bill completed the lineup. Since then, Angkst has been unstoppable. And this is just the beginning.
