SCHIZO DELUXE - go to www.annihilatormetal.com for tons of free stuff, mp3's, videos, tour dates, and way more!
It has been just over 16 years since the release of Annihilator's critically-acclaimed, debut masterpiece, "Alice In Hell". 20 tours, 10 studio cds, 2 live cds, a few compilations and "Best Of's" and some million+ in sales later, Canada's Annihilator is set to release their 11th studio beast "Schizo Deluxe".
Annihilator was formed in 1985, by guitarist/main-man Jeff Waters in Ottawa, Canada. After a few years of demos and a move to beautiful Vancouver, Canada, Waters secured the bands first record deal and released "Alice In Hell" (1989, through Roadrunner Records). This album became the most successful independent metal debut and quickly launched Annihilator into metal "stardom". After touring Europe and North America, Annihilator was then had the difficult task of coming up with the follow-up. To the surprise of many, 1990's "Never, Neverland" quickly surpassed the sales of the first and cemented these Canadians into the metal hall of fame. Tours with Judas Priest, Pantera and hugely successful headline tours took Annihilator to an even higher level.
The years to follow were difficult for the metal world. The onslaught of the Nirvana/Pearl Jam-type “scene" in 1993, and "new metal", ended all but a few dozen true, heavy metal bands. Annihilator was one of the very few to continue doing exactly what it always had done: writing, recording, getting record deals, and touring to support music it believed in 100%. While almost disappearing from the USA/Canadian market in 1993, Annihilator's music stayed consistently at the top of the Euro-Asian heavy genre throughout the 90's and right into the 2000+ years.
Guitarist/writer Jeff Waters also plays bass on the records and produces, engineers, mixes the cds at his Watersound Studios Inc. Recognized for almost 3 decades as being one of the rock and metal world’s premiere guitarists, Waters' song-writing is also acknowledged and cited as an influence by many of today's top USA/Europe bands, not only in metal but also in rock and even pop.
2004 saw the release of Annihilator's 10th studio cd, "All For You", which introduced the powerful, yet versatile vocal style of singer David Padden and the legendary Mike Mangini on drums. After a tour with Judas Priest, Waters returned to Canada on a mission to turn up the energy even higher. “Now is the time to bring back Annihilator to North America”.
In "Schizo Deluxe", Waters and Co. have created their most energized offering to date by combining second-to-none musicianship, memorable performances and powerful song-writing. To find this kind of longevity, quality and authenticity in music today, you will have to look long and hard.
Annihilator's "Schizo Deluxe" is due out November 14, 2005.
