Anthony Hamilton was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. He discovered his singing talent when at age ten, he began performing in his church choir. As a teenager, Hamilton traveled to local clubs in Charlotte and participated in talent shows. In 1993, he moved to new York City in order to forward his hopeful career. He soon signed a contract with Andre Harrell’s label, Uptown records. Unfortunately, the label went bankrupt in 1995, prior to Hamilton releasing an album. That did not phase the blossoming singer, however, he was soon signed to MCA. In 1996, Hamilton released his over-looked debut album, XTC. The album was not distributed well, and many people never heard of it. Soon after the release of XTC, Hamilton signed to Soulife Label, which was created by fellow North Carolina natives, Mark Sparks and Chris Dawley. In the early 200s, Hamilton went on D’Angelo’s Voodoo tour where he sang back-up vocals. From 2001 to 2002, Hamilton was featured on many hit singled: Eve’s “Ride Away,” Xzibit’s “The gambler,” and 2Pac’s “Thugz Mansion.” Hamilton’s talent and popularity began to be recognized in 2002 when he was chosen to sing the chorus for the single, “Po’ Folks,” for Nappy roots. The single was on the group’s debut album entitled Watermelon, Chicks, and Gritz. In October 2003, Hamilton released his sophomore album entitled Comin’ From Where I’m From. The album received mixed reviews. The single, “Cornbread, Fish, and Collard Greens,” has the singer promising a girl he will satisfy her sexually. The album is a mix of R&B, Southern Soul, and Pop

special way. aAnthony is also from north
carolina so that has alot to say about us New
yorkers might think that we're dumb but

| I really dig your response. I was really
fascinated by Anthony's music. So, I
decided to go online to listen to a few
samples of his music before I purchased his
CD. Well, let me tell you, not only was I
impressed by his music, I also got an added
bonus. This song was the added bonus, which
is about a women name Charlene. That's my
name, only spelled Charlena!! Now I know
that I have to go out and buy this CD.
To add, I am originally from South Carolina,
but currently residing in Philadelphia, I am
glad that more and more artists are
representing our neck of the woods.

sings from past experiences. | EBONYEYES | I'm usually a skeptic, and the fact that
he was associated with Jermaine Dupri
didn't help. But I have to say, the
brother is bring it back old school. I'm
really feeling this cd. In the absence of
D'Angelo and Maxwell--and Rahsaan
Patterson-- for a minute there, true R&B has
been salvaged by the efforts of the sisters:
Jill Scott, Erykah, Amel Larreiux, and a few
others. But this brother took it back.
It's good to have a cd that you can put on
and play, and just vibe to. Thanks Anthony

whole is soulful. When Anthony sings, I can
honestly feel his spirit flowing from his
body into mine literally giving me chills.
When listening to this album I close my eyes
and try to feel what he's feeling...and

just broke up wit my boyfriend because he did
me real dirty. And it right after we broke
up, Charlene came on the radio. You know what
imma be real. I'm pregnant, and he cheated
more then twice. But, i was willing to work

ounce of my soul, and now its up to him to
