In 1993 Anti-Flag made their debut on a local Pittsburgh radio station. The members of Anti-Flag started the band to express their disgust towards religion, and nationalism. After starting the band they recruited different people to rip down flags, patches and other symbolic things to the country and they proudly did. So For about three years after forming Anti-Flag they played local gigs and did their best to play as many out of town shows as possible which was hard because they didn\'t have a van, and they didn\'t know anyone outside of Pittsburgh, and they didn\'t have much money. Luckily, one thing they did have in their favor was the unity within the punk scene. They had a lot of help getting shows in new cities from other local bands they were friends with The Bad Genes and Submachine who had already been on tour. To get to those shows their good friend Anne Flag would drive them around in her van. Eventually, they had their stuff together enough to book a full U.S. tour which they did in the summer of \'95. Luckily for them Andy Flag\'s grandfather had generously given him a nearly brand new 1995 van a few days before the tour and they traveled in style! Unfortunately, during that tour it became painfully obvious that Andy and Justin didn\'t get along too well when stuck in close proximity of each other for long periods of time. They did their second tour in the spring of `96. It was very short, only lasting one and a half weeks, but by the end of it Andy Flag had quit the band. In 1997 after the release of a handful of different singles, and opening for their idols UK Subs, the Exploited and the Circle Jerks Die for Your Government was released. 20,000 copies later they had gained the respect of different punk artists everywhere. Now for Peace they released A New Kind Of Army in 1999. They had dreams of playing their fast loud and obnoxious style of music all over the world and they have. They soon released Their System Doesn’t Work For You in mid-2000. Currently Anti-Flag has toured with lots of different artists and groups. They were also touring around with Warped Tour in 04’.
