Anti-Social started playing their brand of hardcore punk in 1986. Formed in Montebello Anti-Social was lead by Manny (Guitar) and Charlie (Bass & Lead Vocals) Cordova and Gabriel Marquez (Drums). Anti-Social played several back yard parties in and around the San Gabriel Valley and East Los Angeles with great bands such as The Offspring, The Vandals, MDC, Insted, Joy-Ride (members of ADOLESCENTS), Flower Leopards, Union (now Union 13), Non Tolerance, X-O Toxins, The Black Jacks, Copulation L.A., Misguided, and many more. The band recorded several demos that were sold at shows and at Roadhouse Records in Montebello. Anti-Social garnered a sizable following until the band’s demise in 1994.
In 1999 Anti-Social re-united for a one off show at an undisclosed location for close friends and family.
The year 2004 has seen the return of Anti-Social. A new drummer has been recruited in by the name of Tim Baca. He has done a great job learning old and new material. With two members residing in Southern California and the other in Northern California, practicing and learning new material has been difficult. In no way will this stop Anti-Social from forging ahead.
Anti-Social has been playing a slew of great shows. They’ve been giving stellar performances and have introduced great new songs to their repertoire. The band has begun ripping up the punk scene once again. They’ve been getting great responses and they’ve made many new friends. Their recent shows have continued the tradition of the band teaming up with great bands such as The Lurkers (U.K), Mad Parade, J.F.A. (Jody fosters army), Nip Drivers, and The Voids, to name just a few. Anti-Social has begun work on a new CD that will include both new and old songs. They’ve encountered some setbacks, but they hope to have it available very soon. For now, come hear for yourselves at one of their shows. You will not be disappointed.
