MUSICALITY BEYOND YOUR EARS!
ANTROPÓFAGOS is a multi-cultural
band in every sense and like no other.
It all began in Oslo in 2004 when brazilian singer, multi-instrumentalist
and songwriter Rafael
Lemos met serbian guitarist and songwriter Janko
Radovanovic. The band started performing regular and convincingly
in 2005 when portuguese João
Lobo took the drum throne and reached it’s best form so far
with the inclusion of norwegian bassist Are
W. Thoma in 2006.
The basic idea behind the name, the music and the attitude
remotes to the 1920’s when a cultural movement called Movimento
Antropofágico promoted the crossover of cultures and races existing
in Brazil as the way to a creative development in peace.
As antropófago stands for cannibal, ANTROPÓFAGOS
make musical cannibalism by assimilating and mixing rock, funk, ska and
reggae with brazilian, balkan, portuguese and norwegian styles and sounds.
The different background that each of ANTROPÓFAGOS'
members have and a common interest in experimenting, and combining their
individual ideas results in an unique and vibrant music.
Their concerts vary from an acoustically grooving to an
electrically powerfull experience that pleases all audiences.
The band has been playing extensively around Oslo, is
getting general recognition and is quickly broadening it’s frontiers
both inside and outside Norway. |
