Richard D James, Born in the suburbs of
Cornwall, where he spent some of his childhood
dismantling keyboards and making his own
sound and hoping one day he will make
it well known across the world! And his
dream came true and is now known best
as APHEX TWIN! Although he is APHEX TWIN,
he has gone many other alaises such as
POLYGON WINDOW, CAUSTIC WINDOW just to name
two! His music ranges from the completely
bizzare (come to daddy, donkey ruhbarb and
window licker) to totally relaxed (flim,
on, beatles) so with a wide range he was
sure to conquer the world of abstract ambient!
Working with such people like Bjork, NIN
(nine inch nails) and coil has given
Richard a good friend selection!
He leaped the bounds of banned videos
with the realease of COME TO DADDY, which
involved children with Richards face on
them (yes i know its strange but bear with me)
smashing up things, harrising people (such
as a sweet old lady) and his other video
WINDOW LICKER which Chris cunningham ( the
director of the video and one Rich's best friends)
said in an interview that 'i wanted something
totally different to the daddy video' and leed on
to say 'birds with beards'! This video was banned
because of the first 4 minutes is just
hardcore swearing until GOOD OL' APHEX COMES ALONG
and does loads of cool dances and saves the day!
Aphex's albums include COME TO DADDY EP,
i care because you do.... and SELECTED
AMBIENT MUSIC 1-2 and THE RICHARD D JAMES!
Aphex twin is one of the most respected
techno artists in the UK and always will be!
I encourage you to buy one of his
albums and listen in sweet salvation
to the sweet sounds of the godfather
of techno and ambient...APHEX TWIN!
