Army of the Risen is a Canadian based band with the goal to ignite and unite youth with a passion for God. It consists of four members; Alex Kalmar on electric and acoustic guitars, Keith Comer on the drums, Jon Fekete on the bass guitar, and Jordan Embury with the God-rockinÕ vocals.
The band was first started in May 2004 in Brantford, Ontario by Alex, Keith, and former members Paul McKay and Jesse Melnick. Alex had just recently moved to Brantford and was excited to find some guys who were passionate about God and music. The summer of 2004 was full of changes, both good and bad, for the guys. They lost two members, but found a new one and Norm, who helped the band through this time. After many phone calls and tons of effort they located Jordan who had expressed an interest in joining the band as a vocalist. Once he was found, he eagerly joined the band, bringing electrifying vocals to the already-awesome band. They were able to put together a demo, recorded in Brantford by their friend Norm and released the much-awaited album, ÒWilling to DieÓ in early 2005. This opened up new opportunities for the band. Their goals for the future are completely God-focused and inspiring. Their hearts are set on reaching the broken, beat-up youth with a message of hope and purpose.
The name ÒArmy of the RisenÓ is pretty much self- explanatory, but in case youÕre wondering, here is what the guys have to say about it. ÒWe came up with the bandÕs name early on. It doesnÕt mean something freaky like Ôarmy of the risen deadÕ, to us itÕs more than that. We wanted our name to make people think of an army of soldiers fighting for the Risen Lord. ThatÕs what we are called to do.Ó (Alex) ÒÉthe bandÕs name means that all of us have been chosen to fight in the war of good and evilÉWe have to trust in our Risen Lord and fight in his army to win souls for Him.Ó (Keith) ÒWe are in an army of reborn world changers that are taking this world by violent force. We are fireproof men of God who resist evil and stand for absolute integrity.Ó (Jordan) For this aspiring band their heart is in their name. They know they are called to the higher, wider, deeper calling of God instead of just showing off their talents for self-glorification.
The guys meet once or twice a week and have all made a serious, uncompromised commitment to Christ. They are ready to rock the world for Christ through their music. |
