Athymia is a metal band playing out of Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. In the year that we have been together we have had widespread recognition in our local music community and also have many fans across Canada. We are a featured artist on online radio station's in the US as well as a couple local stations.
Athymia was formed by Matt, John and Dave while attending College for recording arts. We later brought in brother’s Jason and Matthew Burke to complete the line up. Over the past year we have been playing our original compilations at many venue’s across the maritime’s and just recently we comprised a small demo which was recorded 2005 by the 3 founding members for their final projects which ultimately lead to the receiving of our diploma’s in Applied Music Technology.
The name “Athymia” was thought up by guitarist John Martell , meaning an expressionless face…or morbid looking. Spanning from different influences from A Perfect Circle and Korn to Slipknot and Cannibal Corpse , Athymia have a wide range of styles being put into one project. |
