Audio Schematics are Luke Whinfield and Daryl Spencer. The Audio Schematics sound mixes heavy breakbeats with a killer raw energy resulting in a sinister soundtrack-like edge. Audio Schematics take an uncompromising approach to their music, producing every aspect themselves, including shaping the sounds and programming all of the beats. Audio Schematics commented "We feel this gives us total control of the music, everything works together because it is written and produced to do so…. this expands our scope further than using samples ever would…. it's a nice feeling knowing that a composition is all your own work".
Audio Schematics have always been influenced by other electronic artists including the likes of The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Orbital, UNKLE, DJ Shadow, Underworld, Massive Attack, David Holmes, RJD2, Tricky and Leftfield, to name but a few. The duo also draw influence from old school hip-hop, funk, dub and ragga, plus early pioneering electronic musicians and film soundtrackers such as Ennio Morricone, Giorgio Moroder, Jeff Waynes, Jean Michel Jarre and Mike Oldfield.
The Audio Schematics’ debut release “Yesterday’s Tomorrow EP” was released in May 2005. The title track kicks off the EP with an unrelenting audio assault; a combination of original solid breakbeats with intensely menacing riffs and sounds. All this is underpinned with an electro inspired foundation with two smooth alternating bass-lines. The carefully placed short mechanised vocal works effectively to enhance the slick flow of this mind-blowing track.
The EP’s other three tracks continue to move through ragga, hip-hop and 4/4 influences - fusing dirty analogue riffs, frenetic bass-lines, mellow strings, rhythmic dark angry synth lines and mutated breakbeats.
