The seeds for Battle Cry were sown when Trevor Lane (guitar, formerly of Priapus, Time, and Donny Vox), Hans Masanetz (guitar/keys, formerly of Metal Knights and Zahgurim), and Ryan Willis (drums, formerly of Metal Knights and Zahgurim) formed the Power Metal band Sacred Legacy in Colorado Springs during July 2003. Later, Randy Kurtz (formerly of Near Death Experience) would join on bass and they would have a stream of vocal auditions with none fitting the bill. The last deadly blows to Sacred Legacy would be when Randy departed in February 2004, followed by Ryan in June 2004, leaving only the two guitarists. Hans and Trevor had a brief stint in the Industrial Metal band Power Tribe and then re-grouped to try to resurrect their ideal band in August 2004. They found an eager Thrash Metal vocalist in Paul Wilson in September 2004. The new and still incomplete band concentrated on writing songs. Then in March 2005, Kurt Wheeler joined the band on drums and Bob Szekely joined in May on bass. Finally a heartbeat was back with the band, along with the new and permanent name "Battle Cry". Unfortunately, due to musical differences Kurt departed in June 2005, followed by Bob, due to personal differences, and Paul, due to a commitment to the U.S. Army (HOOAH!!!), in July 2005. Basic tracks for the Battle Cry EP were started in July just before Bob and Paul left. Hans and Trevor are continuing the recording and production on the EP, including a guest vocal appearance from Harry the Tyrant Conklin of Jag Panzer, Satan's Host, Titan Force, and Riot fame, while they continue the search for a drummer, bassist, and lead vocalist to finally fill out their line-up. Ryan and Bob have now joined forces on an as yet unnamed project. "We wish all our former members the best of luck and success in their future musical and non-musical endeavors." - Trevor and Hans
