The Benefits first started their career in the 80s as a Hardcore band called The BeneFISTS. They released a few albums and put on a super violent show. But then, all the members decided to attend Syracuse University and start playing SKA music. Then they changed their name to The Benefits. The band now creates their own brand of ska and reggae music by blending ska and punk and than adding a few pinches of accordian and banjo.
