Cleveland, Ohio based Between Home and Serenity has finished recording their debut CD, Power Weapons in the Complex, for the Rust Records label. The band’s music captures an intense blend of excitement, pain and sincerity, which draws people from all over into sold out venues. Their overwhelming success scored them concert dates on Warped Tour 2005. After signing a new management deal with Mid-Atlantic Music and Entertainment and selling out of their first album’s pressing (released November 19, 2004) in just three months, the band collectively turned their energy and intensity back into new tracks to be mixed by world-renown engineer David Holman.
BHAS has built an impressive fan base, first in their hometown and then branching out all over the world, which is evident in various websites’ activity… logging in over 320,000 plays on purevolume.com, over 20,000 friends on myspace.com and the ..3 ranking on smartpunk.com, which remained in the Top 5 for 5 weeks! Overall Item Sales of All-Time on smartpunk.com were number 50 out of 20,000 bands’ Cds and merchandise on the site! Other areas of success for the band include CD sales charting ..1 seller at Ultrasound Records earlier this year and holding the ..1 spot for five weeks on WBWC (Baldin Walace College radio station). BHAS’s fans say they value the unique closeness and personal attention they receive from the band. Even as the band’s success and popularity continues to grow quickly, BHAS proves time and time again that they are humble and genuine in character, and that they really care about all of the people who support them.
Incorporating inspiration from the screamo genre that has taken over the youth’s tastes of today, with the true rock roots their parents instilled in them, BHAS has invented music that bleeds the trials and tribulations of teen truth. Lyrics such as, “Our voices/are singing/this new song/and creating forever,” (Almost Only Counts) and “Take this time/to redefine/yourself,” (To Redefine) hook their listeners and leave them pondering on deeper introspection and growth.
BHAS is built tightly. The final line-up emerged in December 2003 when all five members found serenity in thriving off of each other’s different tastes and songwriting techniques. Anthony Dargaj (lead guitar) inspires his bandmates with his guitar riffs, which the remaining members manipulate and transform into dramatic sounds that stretch from delicate to raging. Dargaj finds his inspiration in The Beatles and Bob Dylan, which Adam Kraft (guitar) and Mike Mealey (bass) twist with influences like Metallica and Motley Crue. Brian Weir (drums) incorporates the likes of Pantara into his musicianship, while Ian Ver (vocals) sings with the impressions of Thursday and Pennywise. The end results are songs comprised of melodies, screams, deep guitar riffs and lyrics from all walks of life that far surpass the 19 and 20-year-olds who form the band. The combination is un-paralleled in the genres these guys would classify themselves in: rock-screamo.
