| Hey everyone, my name is Billy Wilcosky, Atlanta born & raised. I'm 20 years old and am currently a junior at Kennesaw State Unniversity. Schoolwork aside, I spend most of my time writting and playing my guitar; for me music is such a great outlet and such a great way to pick yourself up when you're feeling down. It's all about staying positive and taking steps forward at all times, even if they're just baby steps! New and interesting music has always kept me moving forward and inspired me with new ideas which is why I'm so excited to be featured among such great artists at sites like I-Quest!, and SoundClick.com. Admittedly, it can get rough juggling school, work and my music, but I wouldn't have it anyother way!
When I think about my past and my beginnings as not only an artists, but also as a music lover there's a common theme, "The Beatles". My dad really gave me a strict diet of John, Paul, George and Ringo growing up. He would always either be playing their albums or performing their songs himself with his guitar, and that's what really got to me. I would watch him play guitar and I would envy him, because I wanted to play like that! It wasn't until many years later, however, that I finally did something about it and got serious about my dreams to play and approached my dad with the news that I wanted to learn and he was more than helpful. Not only did he show me a few chords but he actually gave me one of his guitars! So, I owe alot to you Dad, thanks. Armed with a little knowledge and my new guitar I was ready to start writting chart-topping love songs and power ballads like the world had n ever heard! It was during my senior year in H.S. that I really got into writting music and it was obvious to me that I was evolving as an artist, but I still hadn't gotten any of my music out there for people to hear. Well, during that following summer a friend of mine heard one of my songs and really encouraged me to get out there. After many weeks of encouragement, I finally did it; my first gig was a little coffee shop located not too far from my house. It was awesome! Everyone was so great and really seemed to genuinely enjoy my music! I was hooked. That summer I played everywhere I could and loved every minute of it. It's an incredible feeling when you look out into the audience and see people either singing along or just grooving to your music, I love it! In fact, the best gig I've gotten so far was right in the heart of Atlanta at the Atlanta Brewery. At this event I played for about 200 college kids and it really helped to boost my confidence!
After that summer I got more serious with my music writting not only catchier, but more meaningful songs. In 2003, I wrote a song titled "Katie" which really got some heads to turn. It seems like whenever I play "Katie" at an event the whole place gets quiet and I always get great feedback about it after the shows. In fact, "Katie" is the reason I was chosen Top 3 out of 20 musicians at a local contest at a venue called "Eddie's Attic" located here in Atlanta. I was also chosen as a runner-up in the 2004 Song Of The Year Contest sponsered by VH1's Save The Music Foundation. Since then I've gone on to write other crowd pleasers such as, "Do What You Feel" and "You've Got Me" and have released 2 full length solo projects,"She's So..." and "Day Dreaming"! As 2004 comes to an end my imagination can't help but wonder what the next year will bring.
I am already planning on putting together a third solo album, and I plan to continue to build up my fan base. Also, I'm really excited about a band called, "The Rhyme & Reason To" that me and a close friend of mine Ryan Enloe have been putting together; our musical styles compliment eachother for a great new sound and we have alot of ideas musically that we have not seen used before so we are very excited to be where we are. So look for that name in the very near future!
Who knows what the future holds, but whatever happens, I'll always pour myself into my music and strive to record music that leaves your head rocking, feet tapping and hands clapping.
