At only 16 years old, Blake Shelton won the coveted Denbo Diamond Award. The award, which is very prestigious, is awarded to the top musician in the state of Oklahoma. Soon after high school, Shelton left his home state and ventured to the country music capital, Nashville, Tennessee. He was soon signed to Giant records. In 2001, the singer released his self-titled debut album. The album’s first single, “Austin,” spent five weeks at number one on the country charts. In 2002, Shelton released two singles entitled “Ol’ Red” and “All Over Me.” Shelton’s debut album then went to gold status. In February of 2003, the singer release his sophomore album entitled The Dreamer. The album’s first single was “The Baby,” which was a country music top ten.
