Saturday, July 2nd, 2005 Oooh yay Lol in English we're doing static image which is basically putting a poem we've gone over in class into a picture. Well on the off chance I asked my English teacher, who is lovely, if I could do Coming Clean by Green Day as it means a lot to me personally (I have quite a few guy mates who had told me they were gay/bi). I was expecting him ask me why I felt that I should be allowed to do this song seeing as the rest of the year had to do class poems, but he didn't. He looked it over and said "Oh I know this, it's by Green Day off Dookie right?" and that wowed me. So we stood having a conversation about Green Day whilst the rest off the class were just watxhing and listening to us going "huh?" It was classic. Apparently Dookie is one of his fave records ever and he really into them.
Anyway, as usual, I'm going to work a rant into this. I feel really bad for my aforementioned mates b/c they didn't come out publicly for about 9 months for the fear of being ridiculed by the homophobic jerks who would see them as 'fags' who don't deserve the same rights as the 'normal' heterosexuals. When they did come out, yes they were given a really hard time by quite a few people. It's disgusting to think that people are so close-minded that they cannot see that it doesn't matter if somebody is in a guy/guy, guy/girl or girl/girl relationship that they still can care about their partner just as much as anyone else. Probably more actually because they are just so much more in touch with their emotions. I just do not see how homophobes can think that by treating gays in the horrific ways they do, will change anything other than emotionally scarring these guys who just want to lead a normal life, free of discrimination.
