Hurricane Katrina
Monday morning Hurricane Katrina passed over the southeast part of Louisiana, Mississippi and parts of Alabama. Unfortunately, I live right outside of New Orleans. New Orleans is below sea level as well. We have levees protecting water from Lake Pontchartrain (half the size of the state of Delaware) and the Mississippi River. The reality is, because of the pressure put on by Hurricane Katrina, parts of these levees breached. Water from the Mississippi River flowed into New Orleans and from Lake Pontchartrain. 80% of the city of New Orleans is under water. My hometown is under water. It's getting worse by the minute because as of now (September 1, 2005), engineers can't figure out a way to patch up the levees and prevent more water from getting in. This is a huge catastrophe. Turn on the Weather Channel or CNN to see how horrific this is. People are trapped. They have no food and no water. Possibly over 1,000 people are dead. I'm moving to Houston for a while until my school reopens sometime in December. Fortunately, my house is not flooded. Unfortunately, power is down for a long time and we have quite a bit of property damage from trees. I probably wont be on iSOUND for a while, it that means anything.

Thank God you and your family are ok though. I know I have been watching the news and it is horriffic some of the things that are happening there. MAny of which should not be happening. I am so very sorry to hear about your house and having to leave your hometown. But atleast you all are safe. So many people are still trapped there in New Orleans a with no food or water and no transpoprtation out of there either. WHere is our government now when our country is the one that needs the help. Many people are dying now that should not have died. They made it through the storm and the flooding but when they go where they are told to they die from dehydration or the heat. Its ridiculous. And all this is happening right here in our homeland while th elovely president is on vacation. he isi always on vacation. He is suppose to be runnung a country NOT BE ON VACATION all the time. Sorry you dont need to hear this right now. It is just upsetiing what is happening to the world today. Remember faith and prayer. =o) You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Take care & God Bless!! PEACE!!!!

You know, I've been wondering something. Why are there all these people who have to beg the people of the US for money to help out the victims? Why can't our Government handle this by themselves? Oh yea, thats why, silly me to forget a thing like the war in Iraq. Billions have been spent on that pointless war and now when the people of OUR country need the money to help them live, it isnt as readily available. Also, I have a feeling that the government is asking for money so they can skim a little off the top for themselves, otherwise, they really wouldnt need our help. Where is the national guard that signed up to do things like help out in disaster situations? Oh yea, they are also in Iraq, doing something they didn't even sign up for in the first place. Helicopters? nope. barely any available to help lift people off of their roofs because, well, they too are in Iraq. I also have a feeling that if the Hurricane hit a city that did'nt have as many African Americans living in it then much more effort would have been made to help them out.

to SOAD yes this is worst than 9/11.9/11=two buildings destroyed about a thousand people dead, city up and going in a week . Hurrican =a whole city destroyed thousands homeless with nothing but the clothes on their back and even more dead and most of the US buissness is through New Orleans

Yeah i lvie in kenner and water might have gotten 2-5 feet in ym house IDK but jordan st charles has power now and Jesuit doesnt open until jan 1st. me and my dad drove into the city yesterday, it was one fo the saddest things ive ever seen. everywhere you go ttheres people on roof tops trying to get help but cant becuase theres so many, they have no food no water and there dying. This is the biggest catastrophe in the history of America and nobody is doing a damn fucking thing, if you saw Ray Nagins press conference he's obviously frustrated bc he cant do anything to help his city and i he said to govenor blanco and all goverment/fema officials "I dont want to see any more God Damn press conferences people are dying out there. Now get off your ass' and do something." even Aaron broussard(Jefferson parish president) is breaking down. The situation gets worse and worse and i dont think any one can help...

doesITmatter's comment posted September 6th @ 10:09 AM:
also for the prick who said this isnt worse than 9/11. hmm lets recap 9/11 two buildings were destroyed no1 lost there homes and a thousand dead/the hurricane more then one city is destroyed well over 500,000 people lost there homes more thna thousand dead and stil ldying bc they have no food or no water. New orleans is also the biggest port in America and about 8 oil rigs are destroyed meaning the production of gas for your car is severly cut down cuasing gas prices to rise also cuasing stations to run out of gas. also many fastfood chains get there products out fo new orleans meaning there gonna start runing out of food they already have where i am. but if you think that 911 is worse than that than just fuck off

well... I suppose one "look-on-the-brightside" thing is that you're in Houston, where SpunkXheroE also resides... hmmm.... I'm sure you 2 have already hooked-up.... =P well..... it certainly sucked what happened.... but you still have your life,.... unless of course you don't want that... then, well..... please feel free to enjoy Texas and destroy & massacre the hell out of it... I sure know it needs that... also, the Riverwalk in San Antonio is a nice place to visit... *cough, cough* ahem... the, umm, Riverstage here in my dusty west Texas town is also quite nice.... (no REALLY it is...) hopin' that you get back to your place as soon as possible..... (& that the damn engineers learn a thing or 2 from the Dutch and actually construct a system that will redirect the water to, ummm, here!!! yes here! we need it sooooooooo badly!!)
