Thursday, March 23rd, 2006 Rather be dead than cool This April 5th, It will have been 12 years since that sad day in 1994 when Kurt Cobain died. I can't believe that it has been that long, and I still listen to Nirvana just as much now as I did then (and I was only a little kid). There's a lot of controversy over his death, even today, and many questions remain unanswered- Was it suicide? Murder? Did Courtney kill him? (has my bet) And there are some people that even believe he's still alive. So what do you think? I personally believe that Courtney killed him- I mean look at her, she's crazy. But I think that's also partly because i don't want to believe he killed himself. I want to know what you think about his death, and your reasons. Oh yeah, and remember to listen to Nirvana and wear your Nirvana tee's this April 5th in memory of him.
R.I.P. Kurt Donald Cobain 1967-1994

someone_like_u's comment posted March 25th @ 4:18 AM: hmmm.. you're not going to like what I've got to say about that, so I'll not say it. Except, be careful of worshipping false idols. Especially ones like Cobain. And death is only a transition... is it not written that we shall not die, but suddenly awaken in a spiritual body? Now there's a trip for Cobain.. I bet he enjoyed that one. Doesn't need drugs now. I can't wait. But um.. wasn't it the over use of drugs that killed the guy? Who really knows, huh? What a waste though. I mean.. he had a chance to do something useful, but.......... |

davedrunken's comment posted March 25th @ 8:01 AM: Ridiculous! I can't believe people. Everybody thinks someone is great because they're dead. Ozzy himself said he would have been even more famous had he died. Personally, everyone knows I'm a metalhead. I actually thought Nirvana sucked. But, I understand that everyone has their own tastes and wouldn't tell someone what they should do with their life but, please don't give to worshipping some dead icon. Elvis was the king of rockn'roll and I respect him but, I don't worship him or any other dead musician. I'll be wearing my Testament Tee that day. thank you very much.... |
|
420girl69's comment posted March 25th @ 8:16 AM: I never said I worshipped him, I'm just a big fan. And I don't think that being dead makes someone great, I liked Kurt just as much when he was alive, although because he hasn't lived past the 90's (the notorius grunge era), so he is well-known and respected for his work long after his death. But after all, I did ask for your opinion, so thanks. Oh, and by the way, someonelikeyou, thought you might want to know he died of a fatal gunshot wound, and no one really knows who pulled that trigger. |

cougaa's comment posted March 25th @ 8:41 AM: I am with you on the Courtney theory!!! but also yet again..drugs help claim another life..Was it not for the drug use, the circumstances might have been different.. |

someone_like_u's comment posted March 25th @ 8:44 AM: Ouch. Well, that sounds a bit more painful then. Ah well. Like I said, the guy had a couple of good songs.. but now he is in The Kingdom, and peace be unto his soul. But um.. by wearing his t-shirt, you are in fact idolising him. It is a false worship. It is not healthy. But I know it's what people do. Because people are lost. And that's sad. But on a lighter note, taken from Matthew 28:20: "And look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things." Bless you. |

bullshirt!...straight bullshirt man!
how many shirts do you have with an alligator on it?...or maybe youre one of those "CORONA" worshippers, huh?...
or maybe youre one of those fruits from the loom?...
-------------------------------------
I always thought nirvana sucked, until i really started listening to them, then i paid a little attention, then HE went and killed HIMSELF and that was enough for me to give up the band altogether...havent missed them at all either...
---------------------------------------
some people kill themselves when they are coming down...nobody kills themselves (intentionally) while they are high unless they have contemplated it while they were coming down...
---------------------------------------
consistent drug use never killed anyone, otherwise it wouldnt be consistent, now would it...?

nice day outside, enjoy it people...

powderjay1's comment posted March 25th @ 12:16 PM: i haven't read any of the other posts. so here is my opinion. I bet he just got sick of being a musician. How depressing was it for him to have such a big turn out, and to have to feel empty while singing your greatest hits. commercialism is what killed him. Popularity and fame was a dream when they were underground. THEIR WHOLE philosophies changed, what they represented. I think he knew this. I think he realized that he was just a druggie, who sang songs about his messed up life. and to have people worshipping him for it, he must have known, how emprty it was to be stuck in this mode. the words might have lost meaning. all of a sudden the whole world can identify with you. saying KURT YOU"RE RIGHT... when his whole life he felt like he was wrong. I understand him, and what might have gone thru his mind. these are just an opinion, no rebuttles please. i won't reply or be reading anyone elses posts either. thanks for your time |

SOADfreak's comment posted March 25th @ 1:05 PM: oh god, someone like you, please dont go telling everyone that they are lost because they dont worship god. You need to get with the program. Wearing a t-shirt does not mean you worship somebody, it means you enjoy their music. It is not up to you or Christains to decide who or what to look up to anymore. Times have changed. Who are you to say its not healthy to have idols other than God. And do you honestly think Kurt Cobain went to heaven after he died? No. The guy didn't even believe in God, I mean, the band's name was Nirvana(referring to Bhuddism). The guy committed suicide anyway, I doubt that is something smiled upon by God.
And I am sure Kurt Cobain is not famous just because he is dead. That most certainly did boost his fame up a lot, but he was still a monster of a star when he was alive. |
|
someone_like_u's comment posted March 25th @ 3:18 PM: I'm not telling anyone what to look up to. I'm just saying that if one blind man leads another blind man, they'll both fall into a pit. And anyway.. why do you reckon God doesn't look kindly on suicide? Surely death is just as beautiful as life itself. Not only that, but a whole new dimension in itself. A higher vibration. Why look at death as being a terrible thing? Because we're selfish, that's why. We wallow in our own grief, our own desire. If death sets us free, then we must in turn let the dead be free. And when did I mention heaven, anyway? I don't know where the concept of heaven came from, but the concept of hell can be traced back to Gehenna, and so hell is something that was later added to the scriptures as a means to cultivate a control system over society based upon fear. Like I said, i don't know who came up with the idea of a heaven, but I do know of the Kingdom. And even you are in it. Not just in it, but you are it. Everything in this world past present and future is yours, just as it is written. It's just that most don't understand that. And that is written too. It doesn't stop it from being the Truth though. |

someone_like_u's comment posted March 25th @ 5:01 PM: What you don't seem to understand is that the t-shirt is not Kurt Cobain. It is marketing. It is Media marketing the images it has constructed itself. You think you knew Kurt?? No! You knew the image portrayed to us thru Media. I have a friend but he is dead now, and whenever I remember him (all the time) I do not feel the need to wear a t-shirt with a picture of him on it. Because he is not that picture. At his funeral somebody recited a poem containing the line "don't be coming to my grave and weep, for I shall not be there." Once again, consumerism is consuming us. Remember Kurt, yes, for all he has changed and strengthened your life, but remember his spirit, who HE was, but not the images portrayed by Media. Because then you don't remember him at all. Then you didn't even know him. |

I DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THE MEDIA, OR HIS IMAGE, OR WHAT YOU THINK IS THE RIGHT WAY TO REMEMBER PEOPLE. I DONT THINK ABOUT THE MEDIA AND CONSUMERISM WHEN I WEAR A SHIRT. PEOPLE SEE ME WEAR A COBAIN SHIRT, THEY SAY 'HEY, HE LIKES COBAIN.' THATS IT. SOME PEOPLE COME AND TALK TO ME ABOUT NIRVANA WHEN I WEAR A COBAIN SHIRT. ITS NOT A BIG DEAL. FUCK, YOU PISS ME OFF. HOW CAN SOMEONE WHO TRIES TO BE NICE PISS SOMEBODY OFF SO FUCKING BAD. |

420girl69's comment posted March 25th @ 8:26 PM: I agree with soadfreak on the shirt thing. I like my band shirts, such as my Nirvana/Cobain shirts, just as I like any of my other clothes, so I wear them. |

I only hope that people will be wearing Whitedingo shirts in that fashion. I think there is too much squabbling out there. Let's get back to the music and quit being bitches. SOADfreak's comment posted March 26th @ 4:34 PM: Drugs do not bring out the demon in someone, they create it. With the exception of weed, that stuff is fine. someone_like_u's comment posted March 26th @ 4:42 PM: well, talking from experience, I'd say a good bit of bud is addictive. psychologically. those days when you know that the day could be so much better, if only you were stoned right now. to the point that it's got you going out to get some more stuff and getting stoned. a lot of my days i was too stoned to remember now.. like, a fat black smear across my memory from age nine to about two minutes ago. ye, I 'd say it is addictive, but you can overcome it. |
|
devilweed's comment posted March 26th @ 5:01 PM: Weed is only addictive in the way that you long to be high. The feeling of being stoned and simply the fun of it all is the main draw for me. I quite twice, then a year later would start again. The truth is occasional use of marijuana is not that bad at all. It is far better then putting horrible chemicals in your body and ruining your life with Meth and Coke.

someone_like_u's comment posted March 26th @ 6:39 PM: there's records of people smoking that stuff like 6,000 BC or something... just spreading a load of real good bud out on a slate slab, a little fire burning underneath it, stand around, deep, deep breaths, hold it in, sit down and enjoy the fucking view. i'm not just talking about a measly eighth here, you got to realise that these people, they used to get fucking stoned. very fucking stoned. and then the people in the villages would listen to everything that these extremely fucking stoned stone heads were rambling on about, and then feed their munchies with gifts of food for their insightful phylosophies of whatever these stoneheads were fucking on about in the first place. But I don't think Jesus was a toker, although some do say that they saw his eyes were pink and slit, and he was a bit paranoid someone was after him and he had the munchies as he hung there on his crooked but he'd already had his last supper. But I don't reckon he toked, cuz he knew of the importance of the body if we love this life, but then who knows? I been giving up, and I'll be giving it up again. |

someone_like_u's comment posted March 27th @ 8:16 AM: lol! this blog has gotten so big in four days there's almost no bottom to it anymore. and all in memory of Cobain huh? in very diverting kinds of ways at least. very diverting. ye, this blog has become an abyss of random thought. it's called "Daath" - the eleventh sphere of the Qabbalah (Tree of Life) which is often left out when people talk about Qabbalah. I'm not sure why. I think it's because random thought diverts us from the Truth. Don't quote me on that tho. Need to look into it more. Interesting non the less. I'm writing an essay based on the Qabbalah and the Foucault Pendulum. Knights of the Templar etc. So ye.. i'm curious as to why people always leave out "Daath" from Qabbalah... anyone know? |

someone_like_u's comment posted March 27th @ 9:09 AM: thanx cougaa.. honestly i'm ok... jz a bit numb i guess. i dunno if death is a better place, or just a different place. all i do know is that this physical plane here is only the 'creation,' and that there is more and better to come. uh ye.. i guess it is a better place then.
1 Corinthians 15:42-44a - These are illustrations here of the raising of the dead. The body is "sown" in corruption; it is raised beyond the reach of corruption. It is "sown" in dishonour; it is raised in splendour. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body.
i am only sad for myself because i have lost a friend, but that is a selfish way of looking at it. i am happy for him that he has moved on to the next realm, and wish that he didn't have to feel the amount of pain he did in doing so. that was the horrible bit. the cause of death. gross. i mean, it was really really sick. y'know? so many ways to go, huh? |

and yeah, fuck that toxic shit man. i'll be zingin on coke once or twice a year, but thats it. and as for the bud, we only get indoor, the stuff is so fucking light. but the best time of year is when we can sit back and smoke our own homegrown weed, there is nothing like smokin the shit you've been growin for months. good times my friends, great times. |

(it's your mind formulating concepts of reality etc blah) well that Jesus guy was just telling you that you will always be here, and that eternity is a mighty long time, and the higher your understanding then the higher the plane you reach. physical and spiritual. like positive and negative. yin yang. tai chi. etc etc. one word given to that equation is God, another is Jah, a really horrible one is Jehova, and there are many more. but forget the religious connotations, and stuff them sideways up their own arses for their corrupted tongues, and fuck it. you know you are created, because one way or another you are here. every morning, you're still here. right? well, a name given to it is God. and that, my friend, that is the end. |

Helen's comment posted August 6th @ 6:03 AM: you guys should look up some facts... kurt had five times the lethal dose of heroin in his system... he wouldnt have been able to even get the needle out of his arm before he overdosed, let alone pick up a shotgun and then pull the trigger... someone was obviously there.. |
