My Favorite Drug
Thank the gods for music, the very thing that has kept me mostly straight all these years. Had I not been intoxicated by the sound of my guitar I would have fallen into an ugly world. Not that the music industry is pretty or anything,it's more like an extension of the streets with everyone trying to kill their pain through substances and glamour. But as long as I still get high from a few simple notes I have some hope of keeping my head.

Background Noise
I find it strange that as I get older I seem to prefer playing music I don't know on instruments I hardly play more appealing than performing music I am practised and comfortable with. I used to require my own brand of polished sound but now find myself having more fun creating chaotic noise somewhere in the background instead. I think it will only help my songwriting skills but I'm starting to think being a frontman means having less fun somehow. But then who knows, maybe that's just me.

Maybe it's me, but I find more and more that local, unsigned talent often has more to offer than big headliners. It seems like everyone is running after the money and recognition rather than just making good music. It might be about the ratings for some but music is much more than that. It's a living breathing journal of the artists perception of their existance. Of their own path of evolution. As long as your true to yourself and your music reflects how you feel, chances are people will be drawn in to you, and will be that much more faithful as an audience than if you go for the quick sale. Hooks and gimmicks might get the ball rolling but what was that saying? What goes up...
