Saturday, May 6th, 2006 MAGIC OF MUSIC i believe you are correct in saying that "you can accomplish more through music".. Music has the ability to shape the world. Music, when created with a certain attitude, for the purpose of creating a certain feeling, is/was highly effective in ancient cultures and ceremonial rites, just as it is today. Although, today, there are many more distractions which impede the purpose of those truly creative artists, which create from the soul...Artists whom would truly love to change the world in a positive way, but, alas, here come the sounds of traffic, and sirens, and planes and arguing nieghbors and rap music... all musical, in their own rights, but much more urgent in there approach to convey progress, and danger, and anger...very stifling and redundant without the help of "nature". Nature provides mankind with the neccessary "nutrients" to escape the every day distractions of traffic and construction, rap music and destruction, and other annoying mind numbing attempts of social "progress" to retard the souls spiritual growth... Some might call it "reality", not this one though... The trick is to learn to recognise the music in natures language... Stop. Listen. See. Feel. Stop. Even if its not until the end of the day, "Just before Dark". Listen to the sound of the sun going down...and realise that you didnt have time today to hear it come up...Maybe tomorrow, huh? Listen. Listen closley, can you hear the Light of The Moon as it struggles to pass through your window blinds, only to be refracted upon your floor. Do you realise how long its been since youve seen the moonlight reflected in your lovers eyes?... See. See how the Silence can so subtlely whisper: "SShh...Quiet now, the Night Comes"... Feel. Feel the darkness as you close your eyes. Can you feel how it covers you, wrapping you within the protective folds of its starry blanket... Feel your heartbeat, listen to the blood coursing throughout your body, breath deeply and exhale, listen to the song of life within you, and Know. Know that YOU, too, are a Song. A Song of Beauty. Saturday, May 6th, 2006 Music is a feeling Music is a feeling Music, I believe, is feeling, emotion, attitude, state of mind, whatever. Whatever it is on the inside, music is all of the above, externalized, which is why, in my opinion, some words or lyrics dont mesh with some tunes, or on the other hand, why some words or lyrics will "mesh" with quite a few other "tunes" that dont sound anything alike. The only problems with lyrics are that they lead the listener into a confined, or rather a restricted, point of view. There is really nothing wrong with that either, for it is the idea of the lyricist to do just that. But the lyricists point of view is for another day. Today it is this guitarists point of view that I wish to convey. And this guitar players point of view is as follows: 1). I dont want anything to limit or restrict my Listeners Minds from riding the tune into any Dream (or State of Mind) that They care to Imagine... 2). A song is comprised of (hopefully) music and lyrics... Music is comprised of an instrument and (hopefully) the Talent and Skill of the Artist to convey a sense of openess and freedom, to create an open stage of safety and tranquility on which the Listener can Herself, become the Writer, the Actress, and most importantly, the Producer, of Her own songs... Whether it be a play of comedy or tragedy, of anger or love, whether its communal or individual is entirely up to the Listener. When the Music is over and the curtain is drawn, She takes with Her the subconscious memory of the open stage, and the play. And consciously, She takes with Her the very real feeling of where She has just come from...And if done to Perfection, the Musician will have created, within Her, the Desire to return... I Hate to keep doing this to you, because it probably appears to you as though it is all that I am concerned with (although that is certainly not the case, in my case), in any case this may be the last time that I will ask you this, for a little while anyway...I think i need to take a break for awhile to see how well these "songs" are going to be accepted, you know...see how much people like them and all of those sort of 'self-serving, egotistical, and trivial things that can compel some one to continue doing something, (or anything, actually)'....I dont know, maybe i'll get a job or something... One that will actually give me some money would be cool, too.... Anyone got any Ideas on that subject?...Hmmmmmm.... Ok, back to where I started.... Thursday, August 25th, 2005 FUT THE WUCK...?! So, my fuckin' computer got some goddamn virus. In other words, I lost everything ive been working on for the last fuckin' year. AND NO! I DIDNT MAKE ANY FUCKIN "BACKUP COPYS" OR WHATEVER THE FUCK THEYRE CALLED!... So, i guess all that shit is gone into the Great Unknown along with the rest of my mind... And "isound.com" (!) has still got me stuck on "HOLD" in big red fuckin' letters even though they got a years worth of "dues" paid to them almost a week ago...!... I can barely move my hand because of the fuckin' smart ass designer who decided to make a certain model tape recorded "punch-proof",(fuckin' bastard, wait till i catch up with him!, yeah, I bet he dont have no fuckin hidden steel reinforcements around HIS head!)... My fuckin motorcycle takes 20 minutes to start nowadays...and it leaks gas... Fuckin toothache again, face is so swollen that i could pass for one of Cher's kids... "But I got some good news...", Plenty of free space on my hard drives now, not quite as much as in my fuckin head though, (according to my wife...) I found the phone number to isound! Man, are they in trouble when Doris gets around to calling them!?...Yes!... The swelling in my hand has gone to my head, so, i should be able to flip off the next motherfucker that says "what no back-up disks??..." I was able to fix the tape recorder, (all it needed was to be stomped on a couple more times, better than new now!) Not in so much of a hurry anymore that i cant wait 20 minutes to start the bike (thank God!, those quick get aways were really getting old anyway), and the gas leak seems to be keeping the weed population in the front room down to a minimum... Got some really heavy duty antibiotics from my friend. Guarenteed to kill everything living thing in a body...all ya gotta do is remember to throw up regularly, which isnt so hard to do since the pills have some kinda reminder already built into them, (pretty clever really).... So, compared to most of my life, its been a pretty good week actually... Have a nice Day.
