Mixing traditional Irish music with punk rock, BLOOD OR WHISKEY formed in 1994 and are widely regarded as the first “post - Pogues” band to do so, pre-dating the current worldwide trend of Irish-infused punk. After having spent the first ten years of their existence honing their line-up and perfecting their own unique sound, BLOOD OR WHISKEY have found themselves extremely busy throughout 2004 and 2005. In 2004 alone the band had performed six tours throughout various countries including the U.S. and much of Europe. Highlights included a tour of the US East Coast with the DROPKICK MURPHYS as well as an encore performance of “White Man in Hammersmith Palais” in London, joined by legendary CLASH drummer Topper Headon. BLOOD OR WHISKEY have also shared stages with the likes of Shane McGowan, Stiff Little Fingers, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, FLOGGING MOLLY, THE Angelic Upstarts, The Wolfe Tones, The Beat, The Stranglers, Ronnie Drew and many others.
Summer 2004 saw another milestone for the band, signing to New York label Punk Core Records. The album, “Cashed Out On Culture” features guest vocals by Cait O’Riordan of THE POGUES and will hit record stores worldwide on March 14th 2005. In true BLOOD OR WHISKEY fashion, the band wasted no time heading back to the USA to launch their album release by joining the DROPKICK MURPHYS for two of their five sold-out 5,000+ capacity St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Shows in Boston, Massachusetts and Providence, Rhode Island.
As part of an extensive promotional campaign from February to April 2005, over 600 promotional copies of “Cashed Out On Culture” have been distributed to magazines, webzines and radio stations worldwide. The promotional video for “They Say No” has been submitted to both MTV2 and Fuse in the USA with their European counterparts soon to follow. A full European tour is being booked now for Spring 2005 to be followed by a full US tour in the Summer.
