In and around St. Louis venues that feature live entertainment, most patrons might begin to nervously fidget in their seats if that evenings featured performer takes the stage in full western attire. With the release of his first independent album Coming Home To You, that is exactly the approach new artist singer/songwriter Bobby Cage took in presenting his original music to local and regional audiences.
Remembering a time growing up when it was not uncommon to see live music in all forms and locations about town, Bobby wanted to “bring back live music” to places that it might not ordinarily be. A listen would quickly reveal no cookie cutter cowboy but a seasoned professional with highly addictive hard edged original compositions.
With the release of his second album “Wrong Side Of Love”, Bobby continues to cut across musical genres leaving new listeners to ask themselves “this is country?” Track 1 I’ll Find You, along with One Horse town, When Its Right and title track Wrong Side Of Love are all high energy ballads that dare you to the dance floor. Something About A Loser and Smile For me reveal a deeper twist to Cage’s songwriting ability and Carl Kohnen’s award winning future Bluegrass classic You Can Always Come Back Home, rounds out this disc that truly has something for everybody. Being labeled early on as a traditional country artist, Cage admits to being more comfortable with the Americana & Alternative country tags that have been placed on his second Nashville studio effort.
“If this is country, yes call me a fan!!!”
