Biography

Brand New was formed in a basement in Merrick, New Jersey by Brian Lane
(drums), Jesse Lacey (frontman), Garrett Tierney (bass), and Vin
Accardi (guitar). The group soon recorded a demo consisting of four
songs which was produced and recorded by themselves. The demo went on to
sell over four thousand copies, and got Brand New much acclaim in Long
Island. They began touring with artists such as New Found Glory, Good
Charlotte, and Glassjaw. Brand New soon signed to Triple Crown records.
Their 2002 debut was entitled Your Favorite Weapon. The group soon
appeared on the Road Rules soundtrack, Don’t Make Me Pull This Over.
Brand New has been gaining popularity quickly throught their enegetic
live shows. The group’s influences are The cars, Squeeze, The Beach Boys,
Lifetime, Weezer, and The Foo Fighters.

can someone explain.. why is barnd new considered emo? to me they aren't. Actually I dont understand the whole emo defintion, arent all lyrics emoutional?	mefien

Oki. Emo is a stand form of the word "emotional" which is someone who cries or lets there emotions show is considered emo. As for music when music is emotional mainly death. =emo. BUT Brand new Lyrics (my opinion) are VERY emo. His lyrics BLOW me away. They are so smart and the meaning is outstanding. He puts words into a BIG perspective of life. Which most I can relate to along with everyone else.	Dearestimfalling
I get that, thats what drew me to brand new but their music with out the lyrics can be really heavy. I love the fact that the guitars make such an interwend rock sound. Thats one thing I would like to hear more on the new album. Sorry I cant spell	mefien
I have been dying for a little sound of there new album! They are all for pleasing there fans. They will always please me. I hope that the lyrics are as heavenly and original as Defa and Weapon and hopefully they will show as much feeling and passion. Jesse lacey is a god to Lyrics. he KNOWS how to put his mind to words. :)	Dearestimfalling

I've been getting my hands on anything about Brand New, reading all interviews and such, I'm hoping that by reading all I can it will dull down my anticapstion of the new album. I reread the AP issue (Jan I believe) with Brand New and Jesse said something like "I'm writing this album for the people that didn't buy Deja." For me as long as they stay true to their selfs I will alwasy be the album. This new on can sound nothing like Weapon or Deja but at long as Jesse's lyrics are his and the boys still play their instruments amamzingly I will always be a fan. Jesse's lyrics melt into your emotions and make you ponder about what they mean and how they relate to you. They also seep into your brain but that could just be me, seeing how I listen to them when I sleep almost every night.	mefien
