Breaking Bread, a Christian rock band out of a town with an even funnier name, is composed of five members that have been friends almost since birth. This unique bond has enabled them to create distinct musical and lyrical sounds. Their unique songwriting as well as their energetic and nonconformist style on and off the stage has allowed them to stand out from other bands. Also, unlike many other bands, Breaking Bread is self-sufficient, starting their own merch line, handling all the booking, and managing their own website, all while gathering a fan base along the way.
Breaking Bread officially hit the scene on January 28th, 2005 when, out of boredom, Aaron, Wes, Amos, and Eric produced and released a CD, Live from the Toaster. After seeing how much attention their cd got, they decided to stick with it and become more serious about making music. Since then they have added bass player, Kenny, in addition to a much heavier sound to their music. The greatest highlight in the band’s career so far has been the release of their sophomore album Come Alive. Come Alive has sold overwhelmingly better then expected.
With only a year under their belt, Breaking Bread has received a lot of publicity thus far. Two short months after forming, the band received 3rd place in a “Battle of the Bands” competition. Breaking Bread also benefits from the support of fellow area bands and some radio station playing time. In the past few months, the band’s future has become even more promising. Other than being called to play shows in Chicago and Springfield, Breaking Bread has had record labels contacting them to say that they are impressed with the band’s sound. With the hopes of getting signed and releasing a third cd, Breaking Bread will continue, writing, advertising, traveling, melting faces at shows and, most importantly, they will continue doing what they love the most… rocking out.
