| in oder to make inroads into the sales charts, a group generally needs a gimmick to gain and keep attention. in the case of brenton wood,the gimmick was strong voice that could take command or deverse and difficult material and make it accessible with outsacraficing aesthetics.born alfred jesse smith in shreveport louisiana. he moved west to san pedro california as a child.when his family relocated to compton california during his nhigh school years brenton wood became a member of the compton high school track team.where he received several awards for his atheletics achivements.following his high school he enrolled in compton college. he assumed the name brenton wood from the west la city brentwood. wood had been studing piano sense he was seven years old. one day he was at the comunity center their was a piano on the stage and their was guy playing the piano it was a interesting intrument becouse his family was so poor he had never seen a piano before. so he sat and watch every body that played the piano. and when they finished he sat and picked everything they plyed until he learned it.and when he got a girl friend, he would wright songs about their disagreements. thats part of it.brenton wood |
