Okay- This is my "bio," on Brian Setzer! Brian Setzer was born on April 10, 1959. He started taking guitar lessons at age 8. "Bloodless Pharoahs," was Brian's punk band in the late 1970's. They found a spot on National Television in Massepequa, Long Island (New York or whatever...) There have been two ways to answer the "get-together" of his next band, "The Stray Cats!" In an interview I read by Lee Rocker (Upright Bass player of the Rock-A-Billy trio,) said that they got together when they were 13 year olds & they would just jam. He stated that they lived 2 blocks away from eachother & they'd play Lee's dads' garage. He mentioned that Brian wrote "Stray Cat Strut," in that garage! On the other hand, In other bio's & interview's, They got together at 16 & 17 years old. They'd play the bars on Long Island. They, the group, said they saved up gig money & sold Slim Jim Phantom's (Drummer of the group, he played a 3-piece kit-1 cymbal, a bass drum, & a snare) 1966 Pontiac to buy plane tickets to go to England. Brian Setzer also says, during his performances, "Here's a lil' song I wrote in my garage in Massepequa, STRAY CAT STRUT!!!" The cats got popular enough in England, to open up for the "Stone's," durong their "Tatoo You" Tour (Some say the cat's were chosen because o' the tatoo's that Slim Jim & Brian sport up & down there arms!) Brian said that the best feeling he ever had was in Englnd while sitting in '57 Chevy. He heard "Runaway Boys." A song that he wrote, & the Stray Cats' first hit record! The Stray Cats had many other hits too: 1.Rock This Town 2.Stray Cat Strut 3.Rumble in Brighton 4.Sexy & 17 5.I Won't Stand in Your Way All by 1984! 6 hits so far. Brian wrote all the songs & collaberated with Slim Jim for "Rumble in Brighton!" The Cat's broke up in '84. They each put out solo's aside from the "Cat's." None of 'em made chart noise. Brian starred in the film "La Bamba." He was requested by Eddie Cochran's mom to play Eddie in the movie! (Amazing, ain't it?) The Cats re-united in 1988 to record & tour some more! They hit the charts again with another Brian Setzer original, "Bring It Back." Since then, the Cats haven't "meowed!" In 1992, Brian was asked to jam at a neighbors house. He grabbed his Gretsch & an amp & headed over! This started "the Brian Setzer Orchestra!" The "gang," has released 3 albums now & found success on the charts. You can hear their "hit" song on just about anything, Hey, they won 2 grammy's for the CD!!!!!!!!
