| The Broomhandles are the result of four strapping young lads coming together in the year 2004. Their style of music had changed slightly over the short existence of the band. But it rests on the foundation of experimental punk/ska music. The use of diverse intruments and melodies have made The Broomhandles local favorites and also very popular on the road. Constantly writing and recording new material The Broomhandles continue to mature and make the best of their time together. Their lineup changed slightly during late 2005, but ever strong, they have travelled on.
The Broomhandles now consist of Andy French (lead vocals,guitar,trumpet,harmonica and violin) Nick Laugher(Lead guitar,backing vocals)Schemsy(bass)and Broom(drums and percussion) these tight-knit individuals produde a unique blend of styles an influences.
The Broomhandles recorded their first album mere weeks after coming together as a group they had played two locals shows and received great response from their unique style. After recording and releasing this 10 track album things began to advance for the band, playing shows every week in and out of town. Regardless of their young age they quickly made their way to the top of the music scene and beyond. With this new found confidence they decided to head into the big city and record a 6 song EP. Once this album was recorded and released they began playing shows out of the province and gathered a larger following. Apearing on a few amature compilations and local radio stations and also in serveral newpapers. These four musicians had established themselves.
Presently the Broomhandles are planning to record another full-length album in a professional studio and are also planning upcoming tourdates dates all over Canada and the United States
